That wasn’t a personal attack, unless you believe him wanting you to back up your words automatically means he is attacking you

Says the guy who also has been being an ass.

Sorry that you were wrong about cancel culture, but can you not pollute other threads with your dissatisfaction over being proven wrong on that? (yes, I know your ego won't let you admit you were wrong, but the point still stands).

Wow great stuff, so if he only does a 2nd interview with one team then that team will get him. Impressive stuff that only Craig could come up with.

You're obviously taking what he said out of context...

The Context:

If Johnson interviews with only 1 team = he will sign with that one team

If Johnson interviews with more than one, then he may go somewhere else

Honestly, it's hard hitting posts like this that keep CCS rolling

Bears are cooked. It’s not because of Caleb it’s the work environment. Think about these pitches:

George: our structure is vertical, meet the HR team, do you swear? Who likes working in corporate environments? Certainly not good football coaches.

Vs

Brady: you bring your GM in you guys do what needs to be done to win and we will fund it.
Unfortunately, an inexperienced HC doesn't exactly know what needs to be done to win. Neither does an inexperienced GM. While it sounds nice to say "do what needs to be done", it also sounds intimidating. It sounds like a lot of blame falls on one man's shoulders if it doesn't work. Most importantly though, you don't know what you don't know. It's not a real recipe for success.

Well, the only way that Ben Johnson can interview in person with any team next week is if the Lions are eliminated from the playoffs this weekend. Otherwise, they will have to wait until at least January 27

The fact that you still respond and cry about it is proof in and of itself I live in your subconscious. Y'all are borderline obsessed. :smug2::parrot:

I agree but younger HCs and GMs have massive egos and think they can do it. Poles is the perfect example. He could have went to the Vikings and had more immediate success but he chose to come here for complete control and a completely fresh slate. It obviously didn’t work and I doubt it would work for Johnson but that is attractive.

The older guys who have experience like McCarthy and Carroll know better. That’s why they are all in for this job vs what’s out there.

The thing is some big time personalities like McVay... I could see it. Ben Johnson seems very conservative about his approach to becoming a HC. He's been super selective. While I'm sure he has an ego, he's very calculated and seems to want more help than telling people to get out of the way and let him carry everything on his shoulders.

At least they are interviewing successful, experienced HC candidates alongside these guys who have never done it. Given that you want someone around for 15+ years (in Caleb's vision), you have to count out Carroll, and question whether McCarthy is going to be around to keep the team competitive for the length of our QBs career. If one of these playoff OCs prepare and interview like McCarthy or Carroll, who have a lot of success and the hardware to prove it, then I think that your odds for success improve, and a franchise with an eye toward the future will go with the younger coach.

In sum, my dark horse candidate is Kingsbury. I am not saying he is my preferred coach, but he is going to interview really well as a former HC and offensive mind, and this year's success with Daniels is going to push him over the top.

Yea, this was in reference to the Raiders approach really. Handing the keys over to a totally inexperienced guy... driving up the Brinks truck, letting him hand pick and and control everything... that's massive risk and more desperation than anything. A good franchise wouldn't need to bend over backwards like that. It's trying too hard. Don't get me wrong, Ben is my preferred choice, but that type of power should be reserved for someone who has proven themselves and undoubtedly knows what they are doing. He's not earned all that.

This is pretty common sense. And, as I've said over and over here... and Schefter points out... how can a picky guy like the Raiders? I'm not even sure why McAfee would need that explained to him.
Why would a picky guy like the Bears?

Infatuation is a strong word considering he had a free shot to coach Maye and passed. I also doubt he got enough time to break down anyone enough to be infatuated with them.
Just something I found. Have no idea how accurate.

That answer is obvious, but I'll bite. It's not just about liking the Bears. It's about liking them more than the Raiders specificially that I'm talking about. Pelissero and Breer already reported Ben was interested in the job last year. So he's established Chicago meets at least some of his criteria. There's no such rumor for anyone ever being interested in the Raiders.

And, before the offseason started, no one ranked the Raiders as a more desirable coaching destination than the Bears. It's one of the worst situations with bare bones to even compete. They are 2-3 years behind the Bears roster in terms of a rebuild. And 3 years from now, they'll more likely still be worse than the Bears.

They are far from relevant, especially in the AFC. Brady with his minority share running around doesn't change that. If you want to tell me Ben prefers Dallas or Jacksonville, fine... I can see why. I can't see why he'd choose Vegas. He most likely would never make that team really relevant before he's fired.
