That's entirely made up in your noggin. There's no evidence of that beyond him like the bear as a destination last year. Bears were ready for a run with a good leader and revised O.

It's also been reported that he didn't get the WA job because he wanted toressurect Sam Howell like he did Goff. Dude has a lot of hubris which concerns me a little but OK if he can back it up. Doesn't seem to be just the passive teacher many project him to be. For all we know, he felt he could groom Bagent and would have got the Bear to haul, LOL.

Charlie Campbell: Ben Johnson's infatuation with Drake Maye could lead him to Foxborough. The Detroit play-caller "loved" rookie quarterback Drake Maye during the 2024 pre-draft process before New England ultimately selected him third overall.

You are literally getting mad at me for having a different opinion than yours.

Take a breath, dude.

It's why he's still on my list. I don't care about fan questions. All have proven records but 2 of them have shown an ability to adjust their O schemes for personnel, the other is West Coast McCarthy. Johnson has made a middling QB. Goff is the 2nd highest rated starter in football, 2nd in yards , 2nd in YPA, 2st in completion %, 2nd in 20+, and it's mostly different 1st place QBs ahead of him in the various categories. Lamar holds some of those this year but the point is Goff's game and especially consistency has been significantly elevated under Johnson's tutelage.
You think Goff is a middling QB before Johnson? You might want to take a look at his stats. Goff has always been a great QB when protected.. when pressured he sucks. Even under Johnson..

Now I'm not trying to take anything away from Johnson here, Goff has played great under him, he just threw for 4600 yards this year.. that's his 3rd best.. the other 2 times he threw for more was without Johnson and with 1 less game. So keep that in mind.

Johnson took a multi year 4600+ yard QB and turned him into a 4600 yard QB, how will Johnson do developing a QB that can't hit a deep ball, or struggles to read a D, or struggles to throw for 60 yards in 1/2-3/4 of the game?

Refining an already great QB is a different animal then developing a young QB

Can you explain how you are drawing this conclusion? @--CyBear-- doesn't appear to be even remotely rattled. Why is everyone else a troll, mad, etc when you're called out on your pompous bs and such?

Infatuation is a strong word considering he had a free shot to coach Maye and passed. I also doubt he got enough time to break down anyone enough to be infatuated with them.

And the QB that drove that team to 15-3 will still be there. And that QB has had multiple 4600 yard 28-32TD seasons before BJ was his OC.
Goff has always been a good QB, his kryptonite has been pressure. If you can pressure him he will give the ball and game to the other team, so unless BJ is also taking the OL with him then I wouldn't expect a huge dropoff on offense.
I'd also say, as long as the run game is strong, the pass game will be. This isn't disagreeing... more so supporting the ways of slowing pressure and the value of the line.

This idiot thinks top 5 NFL pass rushers go for 2nd round picks?

A guy like garrett, micah, maxx crosby, etc will cost at least a first and a 2nd.
Or that good coaches go to a new team and trade away their best player by far... who also happens to be young... for a team's backup QB who is hopeless to start for said team, barring injury.
