Nah not necessarily. I think back to when Kyle Shanahan gave up three firsts for Trey Lance and then only started him four games for the Niners before shipping him off. And that was a quarterback Shanahan chose!
This has zero relevance to the Bears. Nice try at attempting some r3tarded parallel but you don’t have a point. I have no idea if Caleb will be that guy but there is no way in hell that he wouldn’t have come if he didn’t think he could work with Caleb. Warren & Poles made that abundantly clear in their interview; whatever happened in SF is irrelevant to Ben Johnson coming here.

The Bears have had uber hyped offensive guys for as long as I can remember. The Bears media and delusional fans will give a million reasons why this guy is different, just like you got a million reasons why all these past guys were different.
Funny how you were all in on Johnson when you were sucking off Brady for stealing him from us.

Ben Johnson, but the Bears have fucked that one up and everyone is just accepting their lame ass excuses for blowing it once again.

I actually do not hate the idea of Mike McCarthy but the idea of hiring McCarthy to be a bridge for Thomas Brown is just stupid. I simply do not understand why people are so enamored with Brown. The team was dreadful with him as passing game coordinator, then got worse when he took over as offensive coordinator, then got even worse when he took over as head coach.
One franchise is bending and breaking every rule they can to get their guy while the other franchise is worried about swearing. Bears are not a grown-up NFL franchise. Crazy to get wang whipped by the Raiders too, just shows how far they’ve fallen.

It all sucks. Caleb Williams more than just about anyone else on the team. Ben Johnson ain’t touching this with a ten foot pole and I know when they hire Anthony Weaver you all will go full Stockholm Syndrome and say “whoa we don’t even WANT Johnson, Vrabel, whoever…we got THAT DUDE here” but reality is they’ll keep being shit.
They are basically out on Ben Johnson. Bears fans are notoriously stupid & easy marks who bet with their hearts more than just about any other fanbase.
They won’t make the organizational moves that Ben Johnson wants to see while the Raiders already have made some and are willing to make the rest if he takes their job. Simple as. He was obviously intrigued by Chicago, but it seems pretty much done deal once Detroit’s eliminated.
Bahaha yeah keep telling yourself that. OK. Ben Johnson just CANNOT WAIT to be a with a GM who took Caleb Williams over Jayden Daniels, Rome Odunze over Jared Verse and Darnell Wrong over Jalen Carter. Who also traded thirty-second overall for Chase Claypool.
Florio just said the Bears need to fire Ryan Poles to get Ben Johnson. The Bears are not firing Poles.

Inb4 “OMG FLORIO DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING GRRR” lmao yeah right. If Mike Florio was saying the Bears hiring Johnson was inevitable you’d be screaming it from the rooftops. This goose is cooked kiddo’s.
Idk if you’re paying attention but people are really fucking sick & tired of DEI. It’s not surprising at all that Ben Johnson looks at Bearsworld, with mediocre blacks and women making all the decisions with zero accountability, and decides he doesn’t want to be the next white fall guy. Oh, also he will be dragged relentlessly by the media if he doesn’t somehow get the DEI quarterback to play way better than he is capable of.

Or

Go play for Tom Brady who has none of that baggage. Easy choice.
In one interview Tom Brady is asking who he needs to fire and hire to make Ben Johnson feel like he can win for the Raiders.
In the next Liz Geist is badgering him about why his name on Zoom doesn’t have (he/him/his) at the end.
If your the Bears and Ben Johnson is your number one target you would rather be his second visit rather than his first. Bears are getting used as leverage to drive his price up.

LMFAO at the DEI boys ***** slapping your white savior Brady with his 0 years of football executive experience.

DEI > Unqualified White Man

If we didn't have CW I would be less concerned.

McCarthy guarantees you develop CW, is Guaranteed great regular season HC.
In 4ish years if McCarthy is crumbling in the playoffs then you replace him.. at that point CW has already been properly developed.

BJ is a Great OC when given a vet QB and given a great OL, but BJ has never developed a QB, has never been a HC. We are rolling the dice on CW development that he will be a great HC or will be able to develop CW.

If BJ fails in 4 years we will be in the market for a QB and a HC.

I don't hate it.. but a sure thing does sound good when the Bears have never developed a QB
Welcome to the NFL. McCarthy is a high floor low ceiling hire and Johnson is a high ceiling low floor hire. You can win with either and the Bears chose the latter.

Given Poles job is on the line McCarthy was probably the safest choice to protect his job but I applaud him for doing what may be best for the Bear longer term if Johnson works out.

Holy shit this was a bunch of crappy predictions. Last time I saw this many L’s, I was watching the Lions 2008 winless season.

Maybe this name is brought up later in this thread ( I haven't reached the end) but the assistant he might covet the most for OC is Tanner Engstrand, Lions passing game coordinator. My guess is the Lions heir apparent to BJ.
Seems he overlaps with Johnsons skill set so makes more sense to replace Johnson in Detroit. Fraley or Randle-El would seem to make more sense as guys that complement what Johnson already brings to the table.

So the Bears are trading for Brock Purdy?
I really don’t get his point. The Niners made a pick. So therefore Ben Johnson came here only to get rid of Caleb?? Lol

Umm you were the one trying to make it about race by invoking DEI and celebrating an unqualified white man. Not my fault it blew up in your face like a bukkake scene.

Tell me how Colorado should have made the playoff again. Or how Thomas Brown was The Answer. You’re such a little wimp when it comes to what I’m referring to here.

No he is actually right. The weird obsession with bringing DEI up and always talking shit about anyone black on the staff is rampant on this site.
He's calling a spade a spade. I've been on this site for years and have noticed these patterns. Do better.

Exactly---Any coach coming in on a highly-touted QB's second season should know he's married to that QB. Especially if the incoming coach doesn't have GM powers.

Add in a first-time head coach that's being highly sought---That guy ain't going into a situation where he's shoe-horned in with a QB he doesn't think can be the answer.

It's the oddest comparison in CCS 2025.

I mean he doesn't care for Williams. Maybe he should go root for the 9ers? Their QB is pretty pale

Or maybe the guy they should’ve taken a first overall who is one game away from the Super Bowl. But that doesn’t fit the narrative does it? Ryan Poles and the Bears are just plainly incompetent.
