Anyone in here know how the order of compensation picks are determined? I’m having trouble finding this info online. I know how teams get comp picks, I know where the picks go in the round, but within the batch of comp picks at the end of each round how is it determined which team gets the first comp pick/2nd/3rd etc.? Is it just based on team record similar to normal draft picks? Is it first come first serve? Does anyone know how the order is decided?

Vikings with a 3rd, Lions with a 3rd(Glenn), Packers only with a 7th. Freaking Ravens & Niners cleaned up

This isn’t what I’m asking. I want to know what determines the pick order for the comp picks.

For example Vikings and Det both have 3rd round comp picks - what determines which teams comp pick comes first? Ultimately curious about if the Bears get a 3rd if Cunningham gets the Jax job where will their pick be within the traunch of 3rd round comp picks? Would Bears pick jump to 97 because they have the worst record of the teams with 3rd round comp picks? Would their pick be slotted at the bottom of the traunch (102 right now) because order is first come first serve? Is the picks order part of the top secret formula and only knowable when it is announced by the league? Etc.

This is what I’m looking for and I don’t see it in your links or any of the big ones on google front page when searching.

Edit: looks like from this NFL article the minority coach comp picks go to the back of the 3rd round comp group.

I know who David Shaw is thanks.

Allen isn't as good as Spagnolo Flores Fangio. He's more like Leslie Frazier or Rob Ryan.

Also how are they going to fix the offensive and defensive lines in one off season?

This is starting to feel like when the Cubs hired Counsell but ultimately didn't have the players to truly compete.
I’m not sure if you noticed, but Spagnolo and Flores and Fangio are all employed and were not candidates for the Bears to bring in.

Dennis Allen is perfect for the bears. He likes to mix it up in the secondary and our secondary has a lot of talent. Al Harris was saying he’s going to turn Stevenson into a ball hawk CB. If we get a few talented pass rushers and a DT, we could have the best defense in the league if everyone stays healthy.

Why are you so dumb?

I gave an opinion tha Allen is not as good as those three. Fans are acting like Allen is an elite defensive coordinator.

Regardless of Allen the defensive line is still a bottom 10 defensive line in the NFL.

Sweat is an average pass rusher, Dexter is a fringe starter. Billings is coming back from a devastating injury. And there's ZERO depth.

At the end of training camp the Bears had two healthy defensive tackles, Billings and Dexter. Poles then traded for a bottom of the roster DT from Cleveland, Chris Williams who was awful.

Pickens came back from injury and was nothing.

The Bears cannot count on Billings because of his injury. Argue about Dexter I don't care.

But let's just be honest and say there's one player who is healthy and belongs on an NFL roster at DT and that's Dexter.

I don't know how anyone can tout the defensive line heading into 2025. Depth along the defensive line is more important than any other position group and the Bears have none.

He is correct that there isn't much depth. I think some people are advocating for cutting Walker? No way that is going to happen. He's a solid player and can play base end or 3T. Valuable when team is almost vertain to lack depth.

How about we see how the roster looks in training camp before we rip our dicks off over the dline? It’s January.

No one is ripping a dick off.

1) the offensive line could need three new starters depending on what Jenkins decides to do. I honestly believe it should be 4 but for the sake of argument make it 3. Plus they need depth.

2) things should be built back enough by now that both the offensive and defensive lines should not need this much attention.

3) Do you trust Ryan Poles?

4) Regardless of who they add it's going to take some time to gel and grow into an average units.

It's inexcusable to be doing a full rebuild YET AGAIN.

I wanted Poles fired. That said he isn’t in charge anymore, if you think $13 million a year Ben Johnson reports to Poles you’re fooling yourself. Poles for all his flaws I do think he genuinely does know he messed up and will operate differently starting this year.

This team will improve next year but playoffs even would be a surprise to me. I’m hoping for 9 wins and I’d be happy for next year. The schedule is also brutal the other 3 teams in the north will all have less wins I’m pretty sure of that, so if we trend up that’s positive for the future.

Top 10 defense 4 out of the last 5 years. He's easily one of the best DC's in the entire league.

2024: 19th in points, 30th in yards
2023: 8th in points, 13th in yards
2022: 9th in points, 5th in yards
2021: 4th in points, 7th in yards
2020: 5th in points, 4th in yards

Playing in a dome.

Allen is the best DC candidate available. He checks every box, not sure who the hell else people want that is actually available.

Right I don’t get why anyone would complain about that hire. My first question would be who else do you want and why?

The only reason I approved the Ben Johnson hire was he said he was bringing Dennis Allen.

Yep, and the person has to be available. Great current DC’s are going nowhere unless its a head coaching position, no one is close to Allen. I guess some want a young guy who has never done it? Allen having HC experience is only a benefit

I don't know why you think Johnson is going to have personnel powers.

Let’s say next season goes horribly wrong. Who gets fired? Money talks BS walks.

Here is a simpler explanation, have you ever made more money than your boss?
