Might be a done deal at that point

Always was after they fired mayo.

I for one did not anticipate that to happen. If they fired him they clearly feel very strongly about one candidate coming there specifically.

If true, my theory is trashed, but I won't give a **** because we got the coach I wanted:

I don’t know your latest theory but this is what is happening. The Bears are simply keeping options open, because if their top choice has a plan that does not involve Poles they can still fire him. If the two can work together they will extend him.

Warren is definitely running this whole thing and has explained it to George who is going along with it. It’s smart business, even if they all sounded like clowns today.

They arent firing poles.

It would also be stupid as **** to let a guy with as little experience as ben johnson decide who his boss is.

Then again the bears might just be that stupid. But yea, my guess is they are not firing him.

I personally dont care, BJ might suck ass. There are plenty of intriguing offensive candidates in this cycle even if its not him.

Define involved. He is like Magic Johnson with the Commanders. Is he quitting his announcing job to run the Raiders? Is Davis taking a backseat that I don’t know about?

He will have some form of influence on hiring I bet. Is he making day to day decisions, no. Will Davis call him on major decisions? I would think so

Ok yes I agree with this. I mean he is a resource why not include him? I just don’t see candidates taking the job because of him because he doesn’t really do anything there.

My favorite teams
  1. New York Mets
  1. New York Knicks
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. New York Rangers
  1. Syracuse Orange
Of the 12 the Bears are interviewing, this is my order of preference:

  • Ben Johnson
  • Mike Vrabel
  • Brian Flores
  • Todd Monken
  • Mike McCarthy
  • Aaron Glenn
  • Drew Petzing
  • Arthur Smith
  • David Shaw
  • Anthony Weaver
  • Mike Kafka
  • Thomas Brown
I like your top 5 but would probably change out Flores for Joe Brady.

Ben Johnson
Mike Vrabel
Mike McCarthy
Joe Brady
Todd Monken

I did not say they were firing Poles, I said they are keeping their options open. I think it’s smart. Jaguars are doing the same thing it’s just their owner was stupid and said it out loud.

Yea, then when ben johnson hires the next emery and we suck for another decade we can blame the lions

Upside is we'd prob suck for a decade anyways no matter what they did

Glad you have a crystal ball.

If he was fired it would have already happened

Truthfully, this org is such a fucking mess that it's impossible to predict.

They let Eberflus run that press conference only to fire him a few hours later. Poles was a word salad machine out there today - he's got no vision to sell to the fanbase and if you're competing for a top flight HC candidate - he looks incapable of selling himself to seal the deal.

I'm not predicting anything and I have zero faith they'll nail this interview.

  • Joe Brady
  • Mike Vrabel
  • Ben Johnson
  • Todd Monken
  • Mike McCarthy
  • Flores
  • Coen(only due to 1 year of OC work, if he had 2.5 years like BJ doing what he's doing in tampa he'd be #1)
If its anyone else i'll be pretty sad. TBH if its anyone else besides the top 4 i'd be very sad.

Not really interested in MM or Flores but I could live with it since at least they would fix the locker room, hopefully.

So what does the jaguars have to do with the bears?

Sounds like you are hoping and projecting based off what another franchise is doing.

Poles and Warren have never been strong speakers.

It’s interesting to think about the 3rd option if I can’t trade for anyone. Honestly for me it’s Flores/Mcdaniels combo if that’s possible. I’d imagine McDaniels is New England bound though. If no McDaniels id want nothing to do with Flores. So what’s the next best option?

It might be Kermit lol. I’ll have to think about it a while.

If Ben Johnson would take the Jags over the Bears he would never succeed here anyways. What a cowards choice that would be. Have fun being irrelevant.
