Their OL is good and they have good weapons + a running game, no?

Ballard is just kind of a meh GM, imo. And their QB sucks. Richardson had a completion percentage under 50% this year and a 0.67 TD-INT ratio (8 TDs vs 12 INTs). And if that wasn't enough, he took himself out of a game at one point because he was tired and out of shape - as the QB.

Beyond that, their defense is in the bottom third in the NFL too.

I just don't see how you win with that. And the corpse of Flacco is not going to do much either for the full season there.

Ballard has brought to the Colts that great Chicago Bears history where you are never bad enough to get really elite players and not good to actually win anything either. And when he does get high picks, he burned them on a OG and a bust at QB. He learned well from his time in Chicago's front office and his KC time was not enough to overcome it.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
That sounds stupid considering that Kraft just fired his HC after one year…
They should have fired Eberflus after two. Act decisively and admit your mistakes that's the best way to do things.

The Bears are going to fire Poles one year too late when they're forced to fire him after next year.

Poles has no clue what he's doing and shouldn't be allowed to make this hire.

WTF are you talking about?

You said you, as a HC, would rather tie your wagon to an organization that just fired their HC after one year. Do you know how dumb that logic is?

Watch the Bears hire Pete Carroll as head coach and keep Thomas Brown on as the OC with the promise to take over in 2 years. You would hear the dick ripping from the moon.

Out of all of the available coaching hires, which coach has both a Super Bowl win and CFB national championship win on his resume?? Only 1 - Pete Carroll.

I am all for that guy. No guesswork involved. No hoping the next hot OC will be a head coaching success instead turning into Matt Nagy or Brian Daboll. This guy IS a Head Coach. No “on the job training” needed.

If we get 3 good years out of him — and he is slowing no signs of slowing down — but if we can get just 3 good years where he roots out all the cancer and instills winning ways in Halas Hall —- then he will be well worth the hire.

And don’t be surprised if we win… and win big, along the way.

Just gotta hope he really still has that energy. He would be an ancient hire. More likely to collapse on the sideline than win anything in this division.

Jags will be the only other attractive job for an offensive minded coach that has options. Johnson goes there or to the Bears. As of now, I don't believe a single report about Johnson's preference either way.
Agreed. On one hand you hear that coaching candidates will be interviewing the organizations just as much as the orgs will be interviewing the candidates.

Then you hear all about these preferences as though the candidate has made up his mind.

I'll wait and believe things when they're official.

They say 70 is the new 60… and new 50 depending upon whether you are into fitness and eating right. And there are guys 40 who when they die, get examined and are found to have the bodies of 65 year olds.

Long story short — “age” is a weird thing. Very hard to put in a category simply based upon a number. Look at what Belicheck is doing — going back to college in hopes of landing an NFL gig in a year or two — he is about the same age as Pete. And look at how old our new President (Trump) is — oldest ever — and yet this country apparently thinks he is up for the job.

I don’t think Pete would be attacking this as aggressively as he is going after it if he did not think that he could do a great job. It’s not like we are at his door begging him to un-retire. Pete is out here fighting for this gig! That’s a good sign.

Why are you trying to flip the script from the obvious two points I made?

This is what the Bears do. Leak that they want to interview Anthony Weaver, then the idea of Pete Carrol doesn’t sound so bad.
