It's this way every year though, and Caleb being here helps elevate us over most of the rest of the jobs. Though the ownership severely downgrades us too.
This owenership shit is so overrated and tiring. On that list, is there anyone who stands out as pillars of great owners other than Kraft? And Kraft had the benefit of Bill and Tom. Are we sure he knows what to do next after those two?

Are the Saints, Raiders, Jags, and Jets owners known for being some sort of football savants? Is the Cowboys ownership a better one than the Bears? You want to dea with that guy every minute of every day?

Stop it.

I feel like they have an underperforming team. They’ve got talent across offense and defense and they’re in a pretty shitty division. Also, their owner seems very interesting in winning, they ain’t cheap.

No way Les. Stop Giving Kahn so much credit he doesn't deserve. Fulham is first on his list. He is more interested the London to Jasonville connection.

Thomas Brown getting that first interview is clutch. Get that Rooney Rule interview out the way.

What drama? Does anyone seriously think the Vikings are not going to extend KOC? Or that KOC will really be looking to start over somewhere else when he has Darnold playing the best in his career and McCarthy to develop right behind that? I mean, they just went 14-3. Why would anyone in that organization want to **** that up?
I'm referring to Caleb's dad

It doesn't count. He's an internal hire. This interview is probably a way to thank him and get his perspective. If they wanted to just get the Rooney Rule interview out of the way they could interview Pep Hamilton or No.Illinois HC Thomas Hammock, or Ron Rivera.

Bears like always dragging their feet.

Gotta focus on this weekend meaningless game, lol.
Yup. As soon as they fired Eberflus, they could’ve gotten a jump on the coaching search and started interviewing guys who are out of the league (Vrabel, Belichick, Carroll).

This would’ve been smart. Even if they didn’t end up hiring a guy like that, you can use these interviews as an opportunity to hear from smart football minds on what’s wrong with the Bears and how they can go about getting better.

All indications are that they instead sat on their hands.

Yup. Also worth noting that unless they interview guys outside of the NFL, they can’t actually get the Rooney Rule interviews out of the way early.

You have to interview two external minority candidates in-person. That comes after the initial virtual round of interviews. (You can’t skip the virtual round on guys with NFL jobs.)

The earliest you can interview an external candidate with an NFL job in-person is Jan. 20, and you can’t interview them in-person that week if you didn’t already interview them virtually.

I’m sure there are reasons for all the restrictions, but damn it does make it messy.

Out of all of the available coaching hires, which coach has both a Super Bowl win and CFB national championship win on his resume?? Only 1 - Pete Carroll.

I am all for that guy. No guesswork involved. No hoping the next hot OC will be a head coaching success instead turning into Matt Nagy or Brian Daboll. This guy IS a Head Coach. No “on the job training” needed.

If we get 3 good years out of him — and he is slowing no signs of slowing down — but if we can get just 3 good years where he roots out all the cancer and instills winning ways in Halas Hall —- then he will be well worth the hire.

And don’t be surprised if we win… and win big, along the way.
I’d need a succession plan, but I hate this idea less and less.

I don’t have a solid order, but I think I’m still BJ as my top guy and otherwise, surprisingly, all defense… Vrabel, Flores, and I guess Carroll. Something tells me it’s going to be Carroll. It’s the right blend of factors to have dick ripping all over the place.

Happy the Lions won so we can figure out what's happening with BJ sooner. By this time next week, he'll likely have all his interviews done.

Commanders had this interview with him last year and thought they were flying to Detroit to hire him before he backed out while they were literally in the air.

So no, if he is the guy we won’t know until they are eliminated.

Sitting on their hands is an understatement. According to Cryin Ryan they haven’t even evaluated what went wrong yet. I don’t know what he has been doing but doesn’t sound like working.

It won’t happen, but the only reason I could think of is they don’t want to lose Flores. I’m shocked they didn’t score a TD against them… Glenn probably just got himself a HC gig…

Are you saying that it's just a fluke that certain organizations have had pretty consistent success? Like Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, Green Bay, Kansas City, Seattle and so on? What else would it be other than good ownership? Pure luck? Ownership is the one that decides on the GM and is often signing off on big moves or head coaches and so on.

Conversely, you can easily say that organizations like the Jags, Jets, Raiders and Browns have some terrible ownership, just like us. Success (or failure) starts at the top. The hope is that if the Lions can buck the trend then so can we.
