That's what I'm talking about with the toxins. It's no surprise they would have low quality beans because from what I hear their prices are pretty good.
Toxins from mold is probably whats giving you a headache.. some people are more sensitive to it than others.
From the second link that FT provided, concerning the mold and bullet proof:

Asprey claims that his Upgraded beans undergo a secret, proprietary process that all but eliminates mycotoxins. He also claims that mycotoxins are the reason you coffee is bitter.

This is almost entirely bullshit.

For starters, while mycotoxins can grow on coffee beans, the coffee industry has known about this for decades. This is why wet-processing was developed; a technique employed by nearly every roaster in the world, wherein the beans are washed, and nearly all mycotoxins are eliminated.

This is something that is regulated both internationally and in the U.S. In fact, one Spanish study found that people who drank four cups of coffee a day (and this is any brand of coffee, regardless of price and quality) had only 2-percent of what is considered a safe level of mycotoxins.

In other words, you could drink 199 cups of coffee in a day and still be under the safe limit for mycotoxins. Further, mycotoxins are everywhere, including human breast milk, and a lot of the meats Asprey recommends in his own Bulletproof Diet.

"Those products include cognitive-enhancing nootropic supplements, coffees, teas, and even tech accessories. Some of the products are backed by strong science and research – like the unique coffee formula which is rich with antioxidants."

"Unfortunately, many products – like the coconut oil you’re supposed to eat to improve brain power – have limited peer-reviewed scientific evidence."

What's funny is coconut oil is not used for brain power. its the MTC oils (Mono Chain Triglycerides) found in coconut oil that gives you the brain and fat burning power and that IS Scientifically proven.

Fast Energy – Upgraded MCT oil converts into energy faster than other oils*
Better Blood Chemistry – Helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels, controlling LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and boosting HDL (good) cholesterol levels*
Nutrient Absorption – Improves the body’s absorption and use of vitamin E, calcium, and magnesium*
Immune Protection – Works to control harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi inside the body*
Healthy Cell Membranes – Serves as stable building block of cell membranes*

how are you going to argue that coffee with healthy grass fed butter and mct oil is worse for you than coffee with cream filled with hormones?
Until u attack those that put milk in their coffee...

Further: nobody is attacking the idea of using grass-fed butter and MCT oil in coffee. The attack seems to be on the science (or lack thereof) that seems to support your confirmation bias.

Please post the peer reviewed scientific research it's based off of.

Thanks.

LOL at this statement in one of the blogs you've posted:

But more importantly: we shouldn’t have to wait for peer-reviewed studies to decide what works for us—what we should and shouldn’t do. We have blood testing, genetic testing. Self-experimentation is absolutely acceptable, and if it works for someone and they can prove it, then it works. Screw the research.

This idiot realizes that blood testing, genetic testing, self experimentation etc are all forms of research right?

So he's saying screw the research while advocating research.

Classic.

Bulletproof coffee is bullshit.

Pretty much this.

Put whatever you want in your coffee. I don't care. Just don't try and be a dimwit and say that it helps you "burn fat" and lose weight when none of that is scientifically true.

'Screw the Research' is one of the more frightening things I've read in recent months.

There is research is scientific research that it helps you burn fat. How can you not understand that is beyond me.

Coffee+butter+mtc oil. theres nothing complicated about it.
are you afraid the butter will make you fat?

I'm not understanding your argument.

when people attack bulletproof its usually not really the coffee but the actual diet he is asking you to follow.
When they do attack the coffee its because they are dumb and they think butter will make them fat.
they are worried about the calories.
healthy saturated fats do not make you fat, I eat like 15 avocados a week and i'm not exaggerating.
bread makes you fat. unhealthy fat makes you fat. toxins make you fat.

FWIW the most optimistic study of MCT found that it "boosted" metabolism enough to burn an extra whopping 11 calories a day. You can burn that by chewing a stick of gum for an hour.

So MCT is about as effective as chewing gum.

bullet proof coffee is based of science. i don't know how many links i can give you on mct oil and that it is a fat burning oil.
anyone who knows anything about health knows the brain needs fat to function properly. the fat in healthy butter is good for you.

the attacks on bulletproof coffee and the peer reviews are on the actual diet itself.

the coffee couldn't be simpler to understand.
