That’s true. But Kmet doesn’t play defense. Hold them to 3 and not 7. But yes the refs completely goatfucked that call. I’m not sure there is another TE that takes hits like Kmet but still holds onto the ball. Dude takes fucking missiles but doesn’t drop the ball

No complaints about toughness but he needs to apply that to his blocking as that is the 2nd quick sack he has given up in 3 games.

Kmet is a solid TE who is definitely a threat in the passing game and a big target for Caleb. Not targeting Kmet until game 3 is just another sign this coaching staff is moronic. He needs to be a bigger part of the offense going forward.

Its pretty common for NFL teams to try and block rookie DEs with 2 TEs. Not an every play but its not a DOA play design, unlike asking only 1 TE to block Miles Garrett. Most competent teams will make a rookie DE prove he cant be blocked by TEs before giving him Miles Garrett treatment. And then some teams like those that hire Luke Getsy dont even give Miles Garrett the Miles Garrett treatment!
Im sure most teams wont try and block Latu with TEs on obvious passing downs now that hes shown his jump chop is indeed NFL caliber.

Everett is 14 not 84 which is Lewis. This makes it even worse. He has help inside so the one thing Kmet cant do is get beat outside which he did. This is inexcusable blocking. If he stops him going outside then Lewis can help him.

That is 100% of Kmet though. All he has to do is force the DE inside. You cannot get back to the outside on that play. You just cant.

Kmet’s contributions in this game far outweighed the missed block.

My favorite teams
His willingness to take a hit (and so many times, keep moving forward through contact) bring the right attitude for this game. Incredible effort and I love seeing it.
I am not in the meeting room so I have no idea, but it could be that Waldron is improving in his own right by calling a few better plays to find something else that works. Those dumb plays to Everett were for a TE he brought in. Now that he saw Kmet get good yards, there should be more going his way. Or maybe Waldron is rolling dice to determine the playcall, damn it if I knew.
I personally question the calls where he looks to be taking on a DE on a key passing down. If the defender is one who gives OTs problems, shouldn't it be expected that he would be difficult for a TE to handle as well? This offense can accomplish more; one of the easiest ways to do it would be to take some of these plays out of the playbook that were shown to not work.

No Waldron cost the Bears the game for multiple reasons. Maybe as an OC you don’t leave your TE who you know isn’t the best blocker 1 on 1 with an edge rusher. What an idiotic comment blaming the game on Kmet.
