If the Bears can get a 4th or better for Marshall, I'd probably trade him. Interesting though, the Colts don't seem like they should be desperate at WR. TY Hilton is a borderline #1 guy. They just drafted Donte Moncrief, who has a lot of promise and put up a couple 100 yard games in the 2nd half of the season. And they just picked up Duron Carter, who has a huge ceiling. If they do get Marshall and Wayne doesn't retire, one of those 2 young guys is the 5th WR, on a team that also has 2 pretty good receiving TEs, so you're talking about the 7th option (8th if they get a RB) with a ton of promise. Even one as the 4th WR/6th option in the pass game is probably decent depth.

The Colts make sense as a suitor to me because they are close to taking the next step and a consistent playoff contender. If you add Marshall you create matchup problems as he draws double teams and wins against single coverage which will open up things deep for T.Y.

He probably will be. Its not like we've had any real ballers at the position over the years. All A.J has to do is stay healthy for 5 more years.

Kind of my point. Given the illustrious history of Bears reveivers, it's not much of a conclusion to reach.

I agree 100% with this, but we seem to be alone on this sentiment.

Kinda depends on the situation. No Marshall and a questionable QB (whether Cutler or otherwise) and yeah, he definitely won't be as good. But if the Bears can find a QB or get Cutler to play much better AND get a replacement for Marshall, I think Jeffery will be fine. But that's a lot of IFS.

Colts have some intriguing talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Especially @ LB with Walden/Jackson/Freeman/Werner

I was actually thinking Marshall for D'Qwell Jackson + later pick. Jackson's deal is very cap-friendly in the next few years. He's a veteran, but very durable (hasn't missed a game in 4 years).

I might be overrating Marshall a bit, but he's an elite receiver and instantly makes that Colts team a SB contender. The deal gives us some security @ LB and allows for some $$$ to open up in locking down Alshon. I think a deal like this can beneficial for both teams.

*Apparently I didn't realize he was charged for assaulting a pizza driver earlier this month, I doubt the Bears would be interested then.

Fine. If they offer up a #1 or #2 take it and run. Which they'll have to because they won't have a true #1 WR. Again.

Seems like this is Paces first smokescreen.

Yeah because we had such a prolific offense with them last year....

What foolishness! The best receiver the Bears franchise has ever had and some idiots cannot wait to get him out of town. Why? Because he yelled at the fat Rib eating linebacker and his other lazy buddies?

If they do trade Marshall, I hope they trade him to the Colts who are my second favorite NFL team. Then we can listen to all of the sad Bears fans complaining on how shitty our receivers are.

The problem with trading Marshall is if Jeffery gets injured then we won't even have anything close to a #2 WR on the team. Here's what we would be left with:

Bellamy
Morgan
Wilson
Mariani

So we would have to get a legit WR in return for depth or use one of our picks to TRY and land a stud WR. I think last years WR class was an anomaly and you can't totally rely on a rookie WR to play at a #1 WR level in his first year.

We have arguably the best dual receiver combo in the NFL. All they need is a couple of offensive line additions, a burner receiver and a quarterback who can get rid of the ball on time.

Marshall getting older and has too many side issues. Bears need to be taking a long-term approach to every transaction. The Colts will be picking at the end of each round. Good trade for Marshall, that is realistic, would be the Colts 2015 5th rd pick (to get the Bears a 5th rd pick this year) and a 2016 2nd rd pick. Would be ok with Bears then drafting Cooper or White at #7 this year. Would have an additional pick in 2016 to add to Defense.
