Those def leppard albums are some of the greatest produced of all time imo.

Not questioning the production value, just measuring their level of fame vs. my opinion of their body of work. They clearly showed their chops on the 1st release, and then it turns out IMO that was their peak.

Bah humbug!

The dynamic duo of Martin Birch and Iron Madien bested everything Def Leppard churned out. I was never that big of a metal head, but The Number of the Beast was the apex of metal production.

That was a very solid release, but I always favored the original lead singer (Paul D'Anno) - back then they had a more raw, near-punk vibe to their metal.

Literally the best contest you've ever seen in person? What about concerts you've seen on TV/YouTube etc...?

I like shows in smaller venues, so The Empty Bottle or Double Door is a frequently visited establishment.

I like the smaller venues as well, and some of the former big name acts seem to have better shows there. One of the best former big name acts I saw was Jesus Jones at the Beat Kitchen. They played sans keyboards and it was just a great sound for their music and they enjoyed the shows as much as the fans that they went for about 2 hours. The opening act was Modern English and they jump on stage with JJ at some point.

In thinking of overrated, I have to throw out there Van Halen. How I liked their music after their first album is beyond me.

Thin Lizzy.......epic band. I have a friend - not a close friend - who is a world-famous rock star (i only know him and his family through my kids), and we have talked about great rock bands and he believes Thin Lizzy are the most underrated rock band of the past 30 years.

Gary Moore - I know I've seen him live before, can;t remember where/when but dude was insanely talented, RIP.

The Boss - i never was a fan, but my wife dragged me to so many of his shows that i slowly became a convert.

Also, speaking of tiny venues, just got tix to see Bad Religion (again) at the Regency in SF, can't wait.

I was in Denver a couple months ago on biz, and i ran into some youngish-looking hipsters at my hotel bar and asked what they were up to - turns out they were road-tripping from the Northwest to check out a band, they told me the name and i said I'd heard of them but had no idea what that sound was about. They encouraged me to join them, and eventually i made my way down to the Ogden theatre in Denver (Cherry Hills) and saw War on Drugs. Damn good show, I'm on board now and will catch them next tour.

Dear RacerX,

Can you please look into using the "multi-quote" feature? Having 3 posts in a row by the same user can annoy some CCS members.

I am not going to report you at this time... but merely am suggesting you think about changing your posting style.

My man, when you get in town we are def gonna grab some brews together.

Thin Lizzy are sooo underrated. Simply put, They are just straight up rock n roll. No bullshit. Just straight rock, and they kicked ass!!! Southbound, Freedom Song, Dancing in the Moonlight. I just love their music.

It sometimes takes a bit to get into Bruce, glad your wife converted Ya . [emoji41]. My friend is a nashville session player for a lot of big names and never cared for Springsteen n has his opinion of everything lol. I gave him this song to listen to and he was absolutely floored by it, been a fan since. 24 year old kid doing this is amazing.

btw, awesome you saw War on Drugs in a random moment. So cool!! I think they are a great band, and definetly envious you saw them. Can't wait for their next tour, I'm all in.

And Grim, seriously dude.. Enough with the troling nonsense. Do you ever get bored with bothering people who are having good convos?

I only saw them once in Iowa. Ended up taking waaaaayyyy too many shrooms that night so the show was more about tripping balls than the music. I do remember some cool shit with bagpipes but that show was a blur. Stupid of me. I don't even drink at shows anymore nowadays.
