Just fucking around lol. But your blacks are pretty minstrel and overall pretty white boy shit predominates. You never seen no good hip hop?
Not a bad list, but the Doors are definitely not overrated. I'd even argue Def Leppard isn't overrated, since people don't really talk about them much.
If they didn't do it, someone else would have. Not like they were the only ones making it at the time, just the first to get recognized.
not really. shrug. Saw tribe way back in the day. not adverse to hip hop, just never got into it. I have seen a lot of producers tho like danger mouse, skrillex, and dj pretty lights and shit like that.
I recently debated the most overrated and underrated rock musicians of the past couple decades with a buddy, this is the list (combined) we came up with:
Most Overrated (does not mean IMO they necessarily suck): Bob Dylan, Coldplay, AC/DC, Dave Matthews, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Moody Blues, Def Leppard, Doors, Reo Speedwagon
Most Underrated: Radiohead, Thin Lizzy, Gaslight Anthem, Peter Gabriel
doors are shit. jim morrison was a fucking master song writer and damn good singer and great poet too. But that band. I mean lead organ, wtf
lol, cmon
LOL, I love how you act like your opinion in regards to the doors has more merit than my opinion about the beatles.
fuckin love some ween.
just sayin, jim morrison was the doors and he coulda had a different backing band that woulda been better. How much of their shit post morrison do you listen to?
LOL, excellent point. I'm a Morrison fanboy. I don't recognize The Doors post Morrison. As for Beatles and Nirvana, I like them both, a lot. I only put them at the top of my overrated list because I don't really feel much when I listen to them. That, and people lose their fucking minds if they get any criticism, like you just sold your soul to Satan or some shit.
I don't think either were doing something that was never done before. The Beatles got popular because they made teeny girls tingle in their panties. At least they evolved, or became what they wanted. Nirvana, especially, was simply recognized first. Bands like STP and Alice in Chains were doing the same thing at the same time.
True, I just combined them because they all get thrown into that "grunge" category. I'd take STP and definitely Alice in Chains over Nirvana any day. Pearl Jam, ugh. It's not that I hate them, just a friend of mine only had so many songs on his mp3 player, and I heard them every day, every other week on the hour drive to work, and the hour drive home. Pearl Jam was on there. I can't listen to them anymore. At all. Plus, I think Eddie Vedder is a douche bag.
I never got into Foo Fighters, thought they were pretty boring, but I respect the **** out of Dave Grohl.
Some music is made for arenas. I didn't really appreciate the Who till I saw them in an arena.
Heres a group that i have struggled with over the years as one that i have liked...hated....respected...back to hated....back to liked.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Under rated or over rated? Or are they right where they should be in music history? What a weird fucking group lol. Love the funk fusion they developed hated the constant california boner rub they never escaped from though. Great albums...boring cliche albums. I dont know where i stand on them personally. Probably get the acclaim they deserve and the critique they also deserve.
Yah pretty much where is atnd with pearl jam and foo fighters. Grohl doth rule.
Oh and on the doors. Jim was one of the most charsmatic ******* in music history even though he was a drunk fucktard sometimes lol. Plus you gotta put these bands in their time and place in not only music history but the social climate at the time. No groups were doing what the doors were doing. They took jims poetry (good or bad) and tried to make that the backbone of the music and it did work wether people like it or not. It wasnt the norm song writing style so it was different. But **** nobody can claim jim wasnt charasmatic and not worth the ticket price alone with the doors.
