Corey is having a helluva season.

What he does in the playoffs is going to dictate if I truly think he's come around, or if he's just going to be the middle-of-the-road goalie I thought he was at the beginning of the season. Hopefully he keeps proving me wrong...

Even if does come back down to Earth a bit and is more of a middle of the road goalie, that's fine. That's all he really needs to be.

With the defense he has in front of him, that isn't really too hard to accomplish, if you ask me.

Two big differences from last year. The D is clearing loose pucks and Corey is making saves to bail his team out. Last season he couldn't make those game defining saves. He's done it over and over this season.

And last season the D wasn't clearing the pucks...both IMHO go hand-in-hand.

I think it does need to be said that with this D in front of him that's very true, but it doesn't take away what Crawford, and Emery, have done. Comparing to last year, if Crawford underperformed, then so did the D. I know this thread is specifically to crawford, but I think the fact that both have improved has paid massive dividends for us.

Both goaltenders have been very very good this year. It was clearly missing last season.

They've made key save this year - where as last season, it never happened - so it became a blame the D game. It's the same with the PK. They're playing the same system in front of them, they're just better.

Craw is much better this year when the puck is behind the goaline/and he has to go post to post. I haven't seen him swim once this year. He and Waite have made massive strides in this part of his game...kudos to them

Now if Bolland could ever work on his faceoffs one off season...or at anytime

The team as a whole is playing much better in their own zone and their break out passes are actually connecting more. How they move the puck and transitition from defense to offense is a huge factor in how great they are doing.

If he's not a Vezina candidate, then I'll be pissed.

Crawford hasn't played enough game to be in the Vezina talks. He might get a few odd votes, but it's going to be among the goalies who've played most of the season. The Hawks duo has a good chance at winning the Jennings, so there's that. And I like the situation the Hawks are in right now, two goalies both with stellar records and the ability to win. Personally I see it as much more preferable than having just one goalie to lean on.

Corey looked good yesterday and considering a shutout near the end of the season, bodes well for him mentally.

Add to that our last regular season game is in St. Lou.

Him and Ray are both rolling right now... the last few games I was wary of Q's decisions to flip flop between the two during the end stretch here, but at this point I trust that Q is pushing the right buttons. He even mentioned that he might do this during the playoffs — I don't know if that has ever happened before with a team winning the Cup, but I don't see why he should change anything regarding the rotation... both guys can get the job done. It's a beautiful situation.

If the goalies don't mind (which we may never know) and it is working... then go for it.

I'd like to see Crawford get the chance, but I kinda hope he does the rotation between the two and they either go far or win the Cup. Just to destroy that idea that it can't be done by rotating goalies like that.

Honestly come playoffs I wouldn't be shocked if Q rotates the goalies. Some may think that to be crazy and one goalie needs to be the starter and stuck with durring the playoffs. Not sure if that is the case when you have a team defense like the Hawks. Hawks have to very capable goalies whom the players infront have no problems communicating with. Why not try something a bit unorthodox and throw off the opposition?

I am one who likes a single goalie playing through the playoffs but that's only when you have a true #1 and an average backup goalie. Hawks have 2 guys that have been #1's this season and both are above average this season.

I think you are probably right. But I don't think he'll have a long leash, he'd be stupid to with 2 of the best goalies in the league right now.

The playoffs are usually condensed right, much like the regular season was this year? So I expect their be no futher messing with the schedule once the playoffs come around right? No need for back to backs and such...
