Im bumping this because in game 5 Craw was outstanding with his puck playing through the game. I have never seen him play the puck that much in one game and each time he did tonight he was smart and effective. Not sure if it was part of an overall coaching strategy to allow him to play it more or all Craw just ooozing confidence but it made a different in the game and def with the transition game. Was really impressed with it. I think it was one of the many big reason the Hawks won the game.

Do the same in game 6.

I agree TCD, I was really impressed with his puck play in game 5. Looked like Hextall/Brodeur/Turco/any good puck mover back there, really confident and moved the puck like a 3rd defenseman. Not only has he stopped the puck but he's helping them get the puck out.

Can't deny the fact that Crawford has been one of the best players on the ice, if not the best, during the playoffs. Yet, still some fans wanted to start Emery for game 5 (not anyone here, but a few I've talked to said it).

Can we finally put to rest the argument that Crawford can't be a winning playoff goalie? No matter how it goes in game 6, I think it can be said that Crawford can deliver a solid enough performance to give the team a chance to win.

I put it to rest in 2011 after the Canucks series. Even though the Hawks lost Crawford outplayed the 7 million dollar man Lou that series. Even Lou said Craw was the better goalie. All that crap last season against the Yotes had nothing to really do with Crawford despite the poor OT's which he himself took the Hawks too for the most part. Much like 3 games of this Wings series no one was scoring goals for Crawford. Can't win games if you aren't scoring more than 1 goal a game...not this team. It's not how it has been built over the years. But people always need one individual to point their finger at. Only a few will ever point their fingers at the guys paid to score goals most teams have 4-5 of these guys if not more in a lineup..while each team only has 1 starting goalie. Goalies get way too much slack by the fans.

Slack or flack?

Otherwise, I agree. Crow has been pretty good this series. A lot of fans I met before Game 5 would tell me that "Emery should start the next game" because we needed to "change things up" and it made me chuckle. You would be surprised at how many people really believed that would work.

I would ask, "How does putting in your backup goalie help your team score more goals?"

They would reply "that's not the point, it's a change of momentum... wake up call... blah blah blah"

After I tell them "Emery hasn't played in weeks, how do you know he will perform as well as Crawford? Don't you think it's a risk in an elimination game when there is no issue in net? You know, getting scored on more often when you have trouble scoring won't help much either..."

They would pretty much stutter until they realized there was no logical reason to put Emery in the net.

i think a lot of people just want the Ray Emery feel good story (i even want it but not at the cost of taking focus off what have been real issues) Has been no need at all to put him in net like you said Ton. Silly talk. A goalie change is only needed when a teams getting destroyed on the scoreboard..Hawks have not been.
