Still doens't matter; he won the cup. Much like us blowing the team up afterwards.

It's one of the reasons I'm really hoping we can pull it off this year. I thought Crawford rebounded bigtime between this year and last. The Jennings is nice, but I think he, and the rest of the team, should get the prize. They still have to earn it and have a lot to go through to earn it--not just the hurdle tonight; don't get me wrong. I'm just really hoping he can win it and make most of the fans who still doubt him wonder where their god is now...Especially since he won't have a Norris-winning D-man in front of him (maybe a Selke-winning center; that's it).

My point is that there are a lot of goalies on Cup winning teams who aren't world beaters. Being a part of a Stanley Cup winning team doesn't make them one. I just don't like the saying "he won the Cup" when it comes to judging goalies and putting those who did over those who didn't. They aren't like QBs, they shouldn't be judged that way (and even in that football discussion it's debatable whether Superbowl wins should be used). It's okay to be an average goalie on a great team. That's what I want. Before this season, that's all Niemi ever really was. That's pretty much all he was with the Hawks. And we'll see if he continues to be as good next year. If he does, good for him, but I wouldn't pay the price in cap space it would take to have a goalie like that.
