I need an update on how much cap space we have left...
Bryan Allen 2.9
Paul Guastad 2.3
Travis Moen 1.5
That's 6.7 Million, but I presume we have less than that left after acquiring Morrison?'

Edit: Capgeek says we only have 4.8 Million left, it might be hard to get even two of those needs.

You can't look at that number anymore since salaries are prorated. As of today, they can add 16mil of yearlong salary and without any moves it'll be around 22mil of yearlong salary at the deadline.

...and who is out there that total that amount? (Availability of one of a combination of guys -with combinations of guys being even tougher to acquire).

This was brought up at PSD.

Right now our 2/3 are Bolland/Kruger. In my opinion neither are capable of centering the second line but both are capable of centering the 3rd line.

Frolik/Bickel/Etc aren't going to get a very nice return, or one that the Blackhawks need (especially looking at the 2c position).

I think now might be the time to trade Bolland (yes I know how he is in the playoffs) and get a decent return (hopefully a 2c). Kruger could then take over the 3C spot where I think his defensive capability and high hockey IQ would fit in very, very nicely.

Thoughts?

Bolland for who?

It isn't a rumor, just a thought. Trading Bolland+ for a 2C and Kruger sliding into the 3C spot...just seeing what people think.

Derek Roy maybe? Even though he is undersized, he usually puts up 70ish points on a Buffalo team.

Paul Stastny? Sam Gagner?

Just some thoughts and was curious what others were thinking

Yeah I was just wondering what you thought the return could be.

Seems like it would be a contending team that would want Davey the most.

Bolland for Hodgson.

Do it.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats

I was thinking about trading Bolland too....Kruger would do fine on 3rd line IMO and Mayers is our 4th line center

I would offer...

Bolland, Bickell, Beach, picks

for

Roy, Sekera

Stalberg-Toews-Kane
Hossa-Roy-Sharp
Frolik-Kruger-Hayes (Brought back up)
Brunette-Mayers-Shaw

Keith-Seabs
Leddy-Sekera
Hammer-Montador (When he is back)

btw, no idea if Buffalo would accept that deal...just throwing out an idea

I am not sure about trading bolland at this point. But on the other hand a shakeup might be in place. I would not specifically look at centers exactly, i would look for wingers as well and move sharp/kane to center if there is a player to be had out there. maybe a winger that can move in the top 3 spot so you can move stalberg down to the 3rd line.

I don't see Kane/Sharp as the Blackhawks answer to center.

I would say Sharp but apparently he has let it be known that he wants nothing to do with the center position and wants to stay on left wing.

Kane really faded off after his strong start at center and his faceoff numbers dropped big time.

Kruger is good defensively but he brings nothing to the table offensively, which is what a 2nd line center should bring.

Definitely a tough position and Bolland is a player that isn't the core but would possibly be valuable to another team in a trade. Let's all face it, if most people want Bickell/Frolik/Etc traded...then there is a reason for that and it isn't because they are lighting it up and have high trade value.

I'd go for a Center before a wing. Especially with kane/sharp/hossa as 3 out of 4 on the top 2. Right now I feel the Blackhawks only have 1 out of 2 with Toews when it comes to the top 6.

Would you consider moving him in the off-season?

I'm going to cash in any meatball credit I have and suggest that if it was me - I would see if Nashville would try to flip Duncan Keith for Shea Weber and build a defense around him.

I'm not convinced that Keith hasn't regressed significantly and in a perfect world I would want someone more physical, or just plain bigger.

If I'm Nashville, I wouldn't even entertain it.

Seems like it would come down to taking Keith and 2 mil or so in cap relief versus Weber. Nashville doesn't need the cap relief.

Me neither -- it was totally one sided (from the Hawks' perspective) based upon Nashville being too cheap to resign Weber and getting an established long term contract.

It seems as if they need another top guy ... now, yes I know I have spoken to the point of Campbell ... my point at this stage of things is that I think they have the flexibility to find someone that fits that role (being a #3 guy) at a better contract.

It is basically a business decision.

A business decision when the future of the business is set to change in a handful of months (optimistically).

Hope Stan knows what he's doing.
