Again great SP for Cubs. Cant win many games with only scoring 1 run though. Offense will be the main thing Cubs need to rebuild.

Kerry Wood postgame ends 50 seconds in, when reporter mentions glove: “Irrelevant, dude, and why the (bleep) would you even bring that up?”

in all seriousness the fan base may be getting a bit smarter. mascot type players arent going to fill the seats anymore, winning will. kerry wood is bad and if he was left handed i would say all he would be good for is a loogey status pitcher. atleast the cubs dont have him locked up like marmol, thats a whole other issue. wood should only pitch when the cubs have a big lead or big defecit, other than that he shouldnt be out there.

Hudson's splits that drastic?

I would rather have Cardenas playing 2B and give a guy like Mather a shot in LF to be honest, but it is a nice to chance to see how Cardenas handles the supersub role.

Okay to satisfy my own curiousity:
*Adrian Cardenas has played 44 games in LF in his career which is the only OF he has played (makes sense given the arm he showed on the relay throw last night)

*Tim Hudson's splits this year against lefties and righties:
Lefties-.381/.480/.714
Righties-.174/.240/.174

For his career:
Lefties-.260/.325/.398
Righties-.236/.293/.328

Using statistical information in your favor? How unheard of.

I know it is a small sample size, but I have to say I've really enjoyed what Sveum has done with what he has at this point. I don't agree with every move he makes obviously, but the use of stats is refreshing.

How many of those bunts came from hitters besides Tony Campana and Cubs pitchers?

Got me. Not a fan of the bunt in general though. I'm more of a fan of the expertly executed bunt hit or squeeze play, however.

I understand not liking the sacrifice bunt but I don't think Sveum has overused. But maybe I am still desensitized from the Don Baylor era of the leadoff guy in the first inning gets on and sacrifice bunting him over with the 2 hitter.
