I know there's no better option on the Cubs but I feel like Tony Campana still shouldn't hit in the #2 spot.

Realize that he been good this year right? Still hitting over .300 and .350+ OBP. might not always looks pretty but he is a game changer

I thought about including him, but I really would like to see what he does in the bullpen. To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing him used in some tougher spots instead of just mop up/long relief.

I'd like to see him in the 7th inning with a 1-run lead, or possibly even the 8th. See if he can be a better holder or setup guy.

Yeah, but it's going down. If you have a light-hitting guy who can't get on base and who is basically called on to bunt when DeJesus is already on second base, he's useless.

Wow. I love how a guy who create runs is useless. You realize Cubs are one of worse power team in league right? So they have to do other things to score. Like bunting guys over. Like using Campana speed to create runs.

Campana is a game changer? Did you hit the hard liquor this evening?

dont drink alchol. Have people not been watching Cubs games this year? How man runs has he created? I can think of quite of few. Again without HR hitters team needs players like Campana creating runs.

If he doesn't get on base, he can't create runs. He was while his BABIP was at a ridiculous high rate. That number is coming down and his BA and OBP along with it. What rice is pointing out is that his own manager has so little faith in his ability to hit that he is asked to bunt DeJesus over while already in scoring position.

If any player dont get on base they dont create runs. So thats dumb argument. Yes no one can exptect him to do what he did to start year. But again i dont see no reason why he cant be .280 BA, .340 OBP, 50+ SB guy. Also reason they use him to bunt cause they have hard time scoring runs so they want to move runner over plus if fielder makes 1 bobble he will beat it out

But that is the argument. Campana has elite speed. Campana's ability to get on base is in question. If he gets on base, he can be an effective player, but we have yet to see that for certain. He is still getting on base which is why it is okay to me to continue to bat him high in the order. Sveum just has to be ready to yank him when those numbers start to drop.

Again thats for anyone. You guys just all seem to believe he going to fail even though his kept his minor league numbers around the same everywhere he went. I guess i dont get how guys can hate him when he 1 of 4 guys actually helping this team score runs.

Its a dumb debate with campana. When the cubs are ready to compete again he will not be a part of that team. He is a stop gap guy. Id much rather have a young stop gap guy than a cheap veteran that could be bad for the younger players. with that said his dancing on the base paths is very busch league. loved last year when he was doing it on 3rd base against thornton and thornton got the out and looked at him and just shook his head.

I realize Campy never going to be an allstar or superstar. But i think he can help the ball club win. With power down across the league speedsters like Campy are going to play bigger roles. Just cause guys dont hit for power fans want to bash them if they dont get on base for couple games here and there. Speed never goes in slumps

Look d3a I've been consistent about this. I expect LaHair and Campana to come down due to their BABIP numbers being high while I expect Stewart and Soto to improve due to their numbers being low. The reason I don't think a .280/.340 line is reasonable to expect is that because Campana has no power pitchers aren't afraid to groove a get me over pitch to avoid the walk. That will lead to more hits but I doubt his walk rate will jump that much from what it already is about 5%. He also strikes out way more than a no power guy can at 19%. He doesn't put enough balls in play to keep the average high even assuming he has a higher than average BABIP due to his speed.
