i understand Volstad young but he still has sucked for 3+ yrs in MLB. Wood hasnt had that chance yet. Its time to see what they have in Wood.

I agree with giving Wood a shot here, but I think it is ridiculous that Volstad is getting penalized in your estimation because he got to the major leagues three years before Travis Wood and struggled.

I actually try to give Volstad shot in Bullpen. Maybe if he only has to throw that 1 inning he can get up to 95 MPH hard sinker. I saw him at 93 today. Bullpen so bad maybe it not bad idea

Given his issues with runners on base I doubt the bullpen would be a good fit.

I'm guessing with his issues they can pass him straight through waivers and attempt to fix him in the minors.

Thats my point. Volstad had chance after chance and has fail for 3+ years. Wood had 1 good year 1 bad. So lets give him a chance and see if he can become a back end SP. i dont think anyone thinks he be anything besides 4 or 5. Which again why it was stupid trading legit LHP bullpen piece for

Yeah I am guessing they will try to sneak him through revocable waivers which ought to increase the odds he can be sent down. The real question is who gets the next shot. I am guessing Wood would be in line given his performance last time up here.

Yes but that point is when is he failing is just as important as how many times he is failing.

thats where i disagree. Dont see to many SP where they suck for 3+ yrs in the league then figure it out. They usually just keep sucking and are consider inning eaters

Good reflexes by the middle infielders to bail Casey Coleman out. I'd suggest him as the next #5 option but that might not end well

How about Coleman? Len and Bob just hinted that he could be "auditioning" for a spot in the rotation right now.

i think Coleman is doing exactly what he is good for. A LR with a spot start here and there

What sad is that being down by 3 runs feels like 10 runs with Cubs offense. I realize having Doc on the mound dont help but even facing a team number 5 SP 3 runs seems crazy

I know there's no better option on the Cubs but I feel like Tony Campana still shouldn't hit in the #2 spot.

I thought about including him, but I really would like to see what he does in the bullpen. To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing him used in some tougher spots instead of just mop up/long relief.

As the BABIP continues to fall it makes less and less sense. I don't fault Sveum for riding the ridiculous hot streak Campana was/maybe still is on. Now we need to find someone else to put in that spot if Campy's OBP continues to drop.
