I think Johnson will be gone soon...

I think we could see a few deadline trades... Dempster, Johnson and Baker.

And hopefully, prolly dreaming, Soto and Soriano.

I expect the Cubs to nail down an long-term extension with Matt Garza. Also, I see the Cubs signing Starlin Castro to an extension before the 2013 season ... no trade!

Why? I doubt anyone has that much interest since he isn't having a great year this year. I suppose they could dump him for nothing, but it doesn't seem like Johnson is really blocking anyone at this point. Dempster is going to be up to Dempster, and Baker is pretty much the same case as Johnson. Soriano is looking more and more likely to be DFA'd at the end of this year. He simply can't play the field as much as they keep trotting him out there. No one is going to give us anything for him and that is with us paying all of the salary.

The only Cubs that will bring back anything of value are the ones you actually want to keep, or they probably wouldn't be too open to a trade. The fact that the new CBA prevents teams from profiting via the draft from rental players is going to suppress Dempster's trade value as well.

Yeah I am more and more thinking the Cubs will just hold onto Dempster and make the offer for compensation.

I don't know, if the Cubs do call-up Rizzo and LaHair goes to the OF ... the OF will be full. LaHair, DeJesus, Soriano, Campana... then Mather and Baker can play OF. They could call Sappelt up (he's not playing good in AAA, but can't do worse than Johnson at this point) I think the Cubs can trade Johnson, but yeah for nothing... A PTBNL or cash considerations.

I think Lou and Quade used to do this righty-loaded lineup all the time against LHP as well. I guess with this team being so crappy it doesn't matter what Sveum does.

After that debacle of a start by Matt Garza I was tempted to go with the Enterprise spinning out of control and exploding again, but I am better than that. Instead I went with another Star Trek TNG episode. This time it is episode 137 "Chain of Command Part II". Again if you aren't nerdy enough to know what I am talking about here is a brief synopsis of the episode. During this two part episode Captain Picard was captured by the Cardassians and is subjected to all kinds of different torture to make him reveal information. The dramatic end of the episode involves the Cardassian, Madred, showing Picard 4 lights and asking him how many lights he sees. The answer Madred is looking for is 5 lights to show that he has brainwashed Captain Picard. I feel like the Cubs are Madred trying to make me believe Starlin Castro is a 3 hole hitter, but...

Wood hit 92 on a 3-1 pitch to get the count to 3-2 and then got Carlos Lee to hit a sharp grounder to Evolutionary Dinosaur to get to 2 outs.
