Yeah so I doubt he accepts the assignment to Iowa now, and I doubt anyone trades for him. They probably waive him hoping they will be ont he hook for the salary.
The Cubs have designated Blake DeWitt for assignment, according to Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald (via Twitter). The move will allow the club to make room for right-hander Travis Wood.
The 26-year-old started five games at second base for the Cubs this season and hit just .138/.133/.172 in 30 plate appearances. In parts of five big league seasons, DeWitt owns a .257/.324/.380 slash line for the Cubs and Dodgers.
DeWitt could be of interest to teams looking for depth at second or third base. The former first-round pick also started 17 games for the Cubs in left field in 2011.
When did Travis Wood become a righty?

I bet some here would be more than willing to flip Stewart for Morel.
I love when im right :elephant:
To me that made the most sense. Then after Wood start today Cubs will bring up IF tomorrow.
I was just surprised that they would be willing to cut bait on any player this early in the season. You definitely called it. Now hopefully they call up Cardenas and at least give him 50% of the starts at 2B. Valbuena getting called up to provide a backup for Castro that isn't starting on the field would be a possibility.
Is Valbuena left-handed? Or does he have six fingers on his right hand?
