*sigh*

They do spend the most money, but they also know to invest in their farm. Also, there's a reason why NYY and BOS aren't spending this offseason, and that's basically because of the impending luxury taxes re: the new CBA. The Cubs did spend but did so in such a way that was extremely inefficient and fucked the team over after that window of opportunity closed. Would you rather run a business as efficiently as possible or would you just continue to spend with abandon?

Anyone can have an opinion, however just because you have an opinion doesn't mean your right.

Fortunately or unfortunately for all of us, the only opinions that matter now are those of the billionaire owner(s) and the smart people who built World Series champions. Life will go on.

You can watch all the baseball you want, but if you can't look at what you call "facts" in context, then all that input doesn't amount to squat.

No, the reason is NYY and BOS had no room for fielder/pujols

Teams that have basically stunk for the past 20 seasons:
Tigers
Royals
Devil Rays (Better since becoming Rays :) )
Orioles
Nationals
Brewers
Reds
Rockies

Honorable Mention Marlins (did win two WS)

Never would have guessed this, the most successful based on .500 seasons are NYY, BOS, STL, and .....HOU

The Marlins had an entire year without losing a game during that 20 year span, :dealwithit:

What I find funny is my op still hasn't been answered... basically at all. Way to fail D3A. Just because you watch so much baseball and played it doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. I'm still waiting for why Ricketts is cheap, what would you of done spent, etc. etc. etc. every fail you've said has been turned down by facts, and you say all you do is spit "facts".

And I'm still waiting on the payroll not really changing at all, and the differences in 08 089 and 10 rosters. Seriously D3A this is for you to answer the questions on your flawed "opinions" not ***** about ares and try to say yours over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Then leave the thread... This was meant for you to answer those questions, not tell me to go look for your answers when I can barely understand what you even say

D3A is entitled to an opinion, but he is still a dumbass.

Being able to throw 80 doesn't mean you know anything about the inner financial workings of baseball franchises, or any sports team for that matter or the on-field events.

I can play baseball for 50 years and still not know shit about it.

I watch more baseball in 1 year then prolly you have your whole live.
Wrong.

I am lucky enough to be stay at home dad
I weep for your children.

and get to catch 140+ Cub games a year.
ZOMG! Every hear of the MLB Network, Extra Innings, and/or DVR?
I watch spring training games out the ass.
If you're watching ggames with your ass it really explains your idiotic views on the way things should be run.

I played baseball for 16 years.
There's a reason you're not playing now.....

I pitched in the low 90's. I can still throw in mid 80's.
Unimpressed.

Yawn.

Sing me more glory days Bruce Springsteen.

I understand baseball more then i do live.
And grammar apparently.

Baseball is my life.

You suck at your life.
I just have an opinion on how i think Cubs should be ran
The problem is your "opinion" is based around absolutely garbage "logic" (if anyone could even call it that) and even worse outright falsities.

It's one thing to have a well thought out well based opinion. It's another thing all together to have an opinion based on absolute shit...like yours.

Only time will tell who is right or wrong.
You can't be "right" because your base reasonings are wrong.

I just feel teams that spend year in and year out make the playoffs
That's not the issue nimrod.

I'm not, nor has anyone here, said the Cubs should cease spending money in general. In fact, as we have all pointed out repeatedly the Cubs have not quit spending. They've spent in other areas other than directly on players at the MLB level to a certain extent at the current time but haven't ceased spending overall.

You in no way can be a baseball fan or a Cubs fan if you truly think/see the Cubs have decided to /want to quit spending money. They are diverting funds to other areas and spending there right now. That doesn't mean they are trying to become the Oakland A's.

You're a simple minded fool. It's as easy as that. I have no other way to describe it.

The Cubs not spendning 250 million on Fielder isn't some indictment of them no longer wanting to spend $$ at the MLB level. It's a short term corrective byproduct of them working to fix things and "get the house in order" after..wait for it...years of shitty spending of big time money. Once things are in order the Cubs will start pumping more money into the MLB level. I've seen the way this new regime works(Theo and Co). They will spend. And spend freely..when the time is right.

While you are so concentrated with a narrow focus on not getting Pujols, Fielder etc you are ignoring Ricketts trying to upgrade Wrigley and the surroundings for half a billion damn dollars(which will increase the revenue base to draw from in order to spend a ton more on FA's..the irony here is astounding), the new academy in the DR, the Cubs offering Soler 27 million damn dollars. Etc. You have your head so far up your ass it's insane.

You need to take a break from posting and spend more time with your kids. I can only pray you're a better father than baseball fan/poster.

Again i really am getting tired of being called names
Then quit being a fucking moron.

:lmao: you brought up the 2 teams that spent the most money in baseball. So again spending money wins over not spending

Not the point dumbass. And I also pointed out that when the Yankee's weren't spending money on A-Roid, Giambino, etc etc etc they won 4 WS titles in 6 years with homegrown talent and solid, glue FA signings that didn't break the bank. The Yankee's free spending regime in comparison has gotten them 1 WS win in the last 11-12 years.

It's not simply spending money, it's the intelligent spending money that works.

Boston spent a shit laod of money prior to last season....what did it get them? Only the biggest Septemeber collapse in modern MLB history.

And again...no one is saying the Cubs shouldn't spend big money in general. Just that they aren't cheap and haven't stopped spending/attempting to spend money

Try and keep up.

I think Boston didn't collapse because of the big spending but because most of their pitching got hurt. They still scored either the most or close to the most runs in the majors, right? Sometimes shit happens.
