Well Liriano up to 80 pitches. Those early SO's have pushed up his pitch count early. Shark at 48 with 2 SO's.

Rizzo swung right through "his" pitch on 2-1 then whiffed bad on that slider. Then Olt wasn't able to fully extend on that last pitch. Baby steps. It's gonna' be painful to watch these guys cut their teeth. Exciting, but painful.

Pitchers tend to be ahead of pitchers early in seasons anyways. I'm not trying to excuse their poor days but Pittsburgh is in a similar situation today though they haven't had as many in scoring position.
