Bonifacio thus far is proving my faith in him. Sure it's a small sample size but if he continues to hit this way his 2011 season line doesn't seem that out of line. And if that is indeed what he puts up he may end up being a player to contribute over the next several years. Chances are they may end up moving him to OF as Alcantara and Baez get called up but a lead off hitter and speed are two things they are missing in the system. Guys like Almora may be able to lead off but are probably better some where else and most guys with any speed are more 20 SB guys not 30-40.

Why is that sad state? He's hitting .778/.778/.889. If anything the front office should be applauded for being able to land him for next to nothing. I get the argument that there's not much else and all but that's hardly entirely on this front office. Lake and Castillo are the only 2 hitters who've done anything for them from the minors on a team that wasn't a very good offensive team prior to their arrival.
I tried to point this out when they signed Bonifacio that he was a much bigger signing than people thought but no one wanted to hear it because he was some "royal's scrub." He fills the needs of the team to a T. Granted they have other needs but he was exactly the type of hitter they were missing.
