Theo has said he is giving Terry an interview he fits the bill for what Theo wants a guy with experience Ryno doesnt.

Different sources say different things but it sounds more like Francona doesn't need an interview because Theo knows him already, and it's more a matter of determining if he even wants to manage and if he'd fit the new Cubs way.

The only reason Tito is even mentioned is because of his and Theo's time together. Theo has even said he doesn't want this to be a Boston Redux in Chicago. Not to mention Tito may be getting a divorce now from his wife of 30 years. I think baseball is the furthest thing from his mind right now.

It's because ESPN puts out what it thinks will generate the most buzz. If/since they don't really know, theyll write speculative pieces based on a thought process where they'll look at what will generate the most buzz in Boston and Chicago. ESPN is all about generating readership, not real writing. Since Francona is a recognizeable name in the northeast (and Chicago), thats what they'll speculate on because they know it will get hits.

Mike and Greg sounds nice, but there is a huge chance that Greg doesn't come back due to his daughter's health issues. IMO, Greg is only going to come back part time at best. Anything full time isn't going to happen.

Maddux withdraws from Boston; Cubs still in play
Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux confirmed Monday that he has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Red Sox manager’s job.

He has not done the same with the Cubs. He is still scheduled to interview with them but said he wants to talk it over with his family on Monday night.
