Why do you feel that way? Because of experience or lack thereof? I would have no problem with Tito btw.

Yeah, I just don't want to see another Quade. With a lack of experience, you never know what you're going to get. It's a risk and I'm not sure it's worth it to take a chance. I'd rather they go with experience, but we'll see. Maddux or Sveum could pan out better than anyone thinks.

Yeah I understand. I wouldn't mind Tito, but I am doubting that would happen. As for the new guys, I have the utmost confidence in the new front office and their interview process. They seem to have a definitive plan and are going to see it through. Whoever they choose, I will be fine with it.

No to Francona or Walentine and Brenly should just stay in the booth.

What about Valentine? Definitely no to "Walentine". :troll:

And you only don't want Francona because he was with Boston...

And Brenly as Manager > His value to the team from the booth

Brenly thankfully isn't being considered since his very traditional opinions of the best way to win baseball games doesn't match the beliefs held by the current front office.

I don't take it that way. I see it as them being thorough in their search.

That was the same argument used when the Cubs hired Don Baylor over Ron Gardenhire.

I guess to me, the team makes the manager, not the other way around.

The Twins way of doing things the last decade has been better than the Cubs for the most part.

Hopefully Theo and co. go to doing things the right way.

Mike Maddux considered the frontrunner, according to a source.

I agree. I was just pointing out that the Cubs have gone with the proven manager 3 times in a row prior to the hiring of Mike Quade, and the results weren't very good for the most part.

And while Gardenhire certainly wouldn't have had the same success here, he would have been a better manager than Don Baylor certainly and probably every other manager since.

•The Cubs will conduct a second round of managerial interviews, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (on Twitter). Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux, Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum, Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. and Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin are the candidates for the position.

So that means they will all go in for 2nd interview correct? Not that they looking for more guys

Yes I believe so... Their 4 candidates are pretty much all and don't see any other candidates.

@CarrieMuskat
Carrie Muskat No more candidates for #Cubs job. Its down to Mackanin, Maddux, Sveum, Alomar, Hale and Francona

for some reason Francona keeps sticking out to me. I just take a 2 time World Series manager over a rookie manager every time

Francona is still relatively young. I think it'd be a pleasant surprise if the Cubs decided he was their guy.
