I love they are projecting Mervis to be the best first basemen in the league as a rookie in MLB history.

Alex Rodriguez and Derrick Jeter both won after signing 10 year deals.Yep, no team in MLB history has won a WS by signing a free agent for over 8 years. Sign and trades left out of this one.
Boxburger......I thought it was Hamburger.Jesus, I think all of you guys are forgetting about the Boxburger signing
No top end FA's are really relevant as long as hoyer is making the pitchI hate missing out of Correa as much as anyone who hates it does. But what offer were the Cubs supposed to make to any of the 3 signed SS that wouldn't be bemoaned? I saw where next year's FA class was mentioned, but it gets really light after those top 2, 3 if Machado opts out.
If that's true....then **** him. He's a pussy that wants shit handed to him. Any player worth his salt would say "im gonna go there and make them a winner". No wonder he's the last one to get signed. There's a report that swansons best offer is from the cubs and it is significantly better than anyone else but he'd rather play for a winning team.

Well I am certainly not beating the drum for Swanson overall, but what does “hits just as well with less power“ even mean?Swanson doesn’t move the needle one bit. If Madrigal can stay healthy, he probably hits just as well with just less power. I like the ? ? signing since he’s a very flippable asset come TDL.
THis is about free agents not resignings.Alex Rodriguez and Derrick Jeter both won after signing 10 year deals.
Website that supposedly shows all mlb contacts 10+ years.
The longest contracts in baseball history
When Fernando Tatis Jr. signed a 14-year extension with the Padres in 2021, it set a new standard for the longest pact in MLB history. There have now been 27 MLB contracts totaling 10 years or longer, the latest being the 10-year, $140 million extension Will Smith signed with thewww.mlb.com
The article you linked DOES include resigningsTHis is about free agents not resignings.
This must be going over peoples heads.....The article you linked DOES include resignings
Maybe try making a coherent point ?This must be going over peoples heads.....
Unless it was Ricketts that said no to a 10+ year contract. I doubt Hoyer is allowed to make a deal that big without the owner's approval. The Cubs were expected to be a year out from their window at that time. Currently people think a window should open for the Cubs next year (2024) with a lot of pitching being ready along with PCA, Davis, Mervis and Alcantara.
Again though, as my edited post above says. Cubs brought the backlash on themselves. They were very open about how aggressive they'd be and how they had much more money to spend this off-season. This is their own doing and I very much think hoyer is on the hot seat with Ricketts
