If Correa’s contract gets voided, I hope the Cubs jump in and offer him a shorter term deal. Depending on what exactly is wrong with his physical, of course. I don’t know how open he’d be to playing 3rd though.

If this "unspecified issue" has anything to do with his legs....a move from middle infield to a corner spot might just be what the doctor ordered for him. I'm not familar with the Giant system but they don't seem to have much in the infield on the ML level. I highly doubt Correa is going anywhere but Frisco....they'll fit him in somewhere but for fewer dollars.

I highly doubt that Jed jumps at Correa. I believe he is focused on Confronto ATM. Few teams are bidding and Boras has said 2 year with a ,1 year opt out. It is the same deal that Jed signed Cost to so up his alley

Then Jed needs a RH 1B.

So I am not concerned about Correa. Giants are going to sit on that 13 year deal regardless. It would be a catastrophe if they miss on Judge and boot Correa and have n.o.t.h.i.n.g to show for it. They will bank on the long game

What's Conforto do for us, other than possibly worsen the OF D by sending Bellinger to 1st?

Giants postponed the presser introducing Correa. Clearly they will want to salvage something, but if they think he's too hurt for the contract they offered, the whole negotiation starts over.

I'd bring in conforto as dh or have him play first(likely not worse than schwindel). Or I'd be fine with him in left and trade happ for a C, 3B, or pitching. I think conforto if healthy is a nice offensive addition.

My brain fart. Forgot about DH.

He has not played 1B in MLB as far as I know.

this hear, Happ's value is likely as high as it will get, and we can load up on outfield talent that can field and hit quite easily

In a stunner, the Mets get him for 12 years. Mets are all in, all in.

Also, Andrew Benintendi signing 5 years 75 with the Sox is telling for Happ. He has been the better player from 2019 on so the Cubs know what his market is now and have to make a decision.

Wow, yeah, the Giants bailed on the deal…

If Correa fails a couple more physicals, he could drop into Jed’s price range.

It wasnt price. It was years. Jed didnt want to commit the years. Now, you have a team revoking a contract on medicals. Im glad the Cubs arent involved. Steve Cohen wants the world to think he swings the biggest dick in NY. Not surprised he just threw the money at him.

I wanted the Cubs to swing that big dick but I have no regrets they didn’t sign Correa at this point.

He would be a DH and 4th OF for rotations.

Puts the Yankees to shame.

The overall numbers of the Mets’ spending spree continue to stagger. Assuming Correa’s contract pays him $26.25MM in each year of the deal, the Amazins’ payroll will now soar past the $377MM mark for 2023. Having already far surpassed the fourth and highest tier ($293MM) of Competitive Balance Tax penalties, New York is paying a 90% tax on every dollar spent beyond the $293MM threshold. That works out to roughly $23.62MM added to the Mets’ tax bill, thus putting their luxury tax number over $386MM.

Jed should just aim for 2024 at this point. Mets are in cray cray land. Eventually someone will force Lithium down Cohen's throat and the wheels will be put back on the wagon.

It really seems this was a good offseason to stay out of this bidding war. SHould be us, Yankees, DOdgers and Giants next year as big spenders.
