Vogelbach is finding his stride.

3 for 4 with a double and a RBI. His average has raised significantly in the past week.

Hey, does anyone know what's happening with Dillon Maples? Is he pitching anywhere? Still with the organization? Arm fall off?

According to fangraphs he hasn't pitche yet this year. I seem to recall they were holding him back for some injury related thing but it didn't sound major but I could be wrong.

Wouldn't mind seeing Gieger and Bryant promoted to Iowa soon. Both are at 5 HR's each. Bryant hitting near .300. It would give Iowa a nice boost to the O plus move up Bryant's time table. Gieger just hits. Nice bat in a line up.

Saddly Vitters fell off of the table at Iowa. Jackson never got over the strike outs early on.

Time to move on I would think.

For Vitters: last 10 games: 5 for 40. 3 BB 13 SO's. 1 extra base hit in that span. He has fallen off of the wagon.

Coincidentally, the Blackhawks kept, extended and continued drafting good players and letting them play. They also signed free agents from all over.

Not stockpiling prospects and signing middling FAs and hoping they'd come up and save the day.

Which is the exact opposite of what the Cubs are doing.

Who are all these free agents they signed "from all over"?

And note: They didn't sign them before Toews and Kane were ready.

They also have a salary cap and play hockey on ice so I really don't know where Fisch's comp comes from at all.

Marian Hossa. Brian Campbell. Cristobal Huet, among others. Cripes.

They also acquired Havlat via trade, along with Patrick Sharp. They've consistently put the NHL team above the AHL affiliate. Can't say the same about the Cubs, and their MLB team and affiliate minor league clubs.

Silly me. I didn't include guys they traded for when counting "free agents they signed".

And I didn't include guys who rarely played when considering they were successful due to the free agents they acquired.

So, really, when it's all said and done, "ALL THE FREE AGENTS" really comes down to Hossa, doesn't it?

But you were determined to bash the Cubs with a Blackhawks comparison, so.......

Actually, there IS a comparison. A very valid one, which is the one you were trying to refute. The Hawks built with homegrown talent acquired when they bottomed out and got high draft picks, and they added to it once their star draft picks reached the pro club. Not before.

The Hawks were rated the single worst franchise in sports in 2004, and won the first of multiple cups 6 years later. There is a very common thread here.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/prishe/...l-losing-money-by-undervaluing-ticket-prices/

But as impressive as the Blackhawks have been on-the-ice, the franchise is still losing money off-the-ice. According to Crain’s and their interview with Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz, the team’s operating losses are between $10-20 million. Of course, after playing 3 Stanley Cup Finals home games at the United Center, my guess is that estimate is closer to a $10 million loss than a $20 million loss.

Yep. This is something I guarantee Tom Ricketts and his dad wouldn't do.

Don't worry guys, Tom Ricketts is the next Rocky Wirtz. What a joke.

You've made up your mind that they'l never be good with the guys they are acquiring, and there is no convincing you otherwise.

I can't guarantee they will win championships. But I can say they haven't won doing it the way they used to: Constantly overpaying for a FA on the downside to fill hoels because they drafted poorly.

I'd rather bottom out and get top talent than be a middle of the road noncontender for years.

Winning 75 instead of 69 does nothing for me. I only care that they become contenders. Nothing else will matter.

Every mediocre team in the NBA is trying to do it the same way. Atlanta knew making the playoffs as an 8 seed was worse than missing them. Certainly the rebuilding in the NBA is different, but the idea is the same. You need TOP talent.

Ask the Indianapolis Colts if they wish they won 3 more games three years ago.

Silly me. I should take a look at all the minor league pennants hanging at Wrigley........................OH WAIT.

Now we have Cub fans trying to say Tom Ricketts is the next Rocky Wirtz.

Nobody has said Ricketts is Rocky Wirtz. But you bash Theo Epstein, not just Ricketts.

Do I think Theo can do the same job Dale Tallon did? Yes, I do.

I have never said ONE word in defense of (or bashing) Tom Ricketts. Don't change the argument every time someone calls you out for posting BS.

You were completely inaccurate (untruthful) in your points that you made about the Blackhawks, and now you turn that around to say others are saying Ricketts> Wirtz. WRONG!!

They'll never be good with an owner who cares more about making money than winning championships.

There's only so much people on a MLB club and in a farm system can do when ownership isn't committed to winning.

Didn't the sox win a world series with Jerry who's long been criticized for being a cheap owner?

1. Hossa wont he Cup with us the year he signed with us.... guess who was already up?
2. Signed Campbell in 2008... guess who was already up?
3. Huet signed in 2008... and was a backup initially... guess who was already up?
4. We traded a guy who debuted more than ten years before that for Havlat... not exactly a prospect.
5. We traded a guy who was drafted in the 4th round and was never a big prospect for Sharp... and it was a year after we were in the playoffs.

And BTW, no pro sports team values their minor league affiliates over the major league team. We don't get big prospects to see the Daytona Cubs win the FSL championship... we do it for their future impact on us at the major league level.

But keep drinking the KB Koolaid.
