Good chance he goes to the Mets, I know the Mets are in a bit of a jam with Madoff, but they can bait Ike Davis for prospects or another proven player in return, not to mention they do have some cash coming off the books, Beltran, K-Rod (vesting option) and are only on the hook for $88 million for 2012. They play in New York with a huge amount of revenue, they have a very smart GM and front office I think they could be a factor in signing Albert in spite of re-signing Jose Reyes.
Jose Reyes, David Wright, Jason Bay, Albert Pujols, Mike Thole, Angel Pagan (yes, that Angel Pagan) is a pretty good cast.
I'm not saying he's going to be a Met guaranteed, I just wouldn't be surprised if it happened.
Not sure you heard, but Mets are BROKE. Like, they MLB just paid them $25 million so they could pay players. This situation will get very nasty in the next several months, much uglier then it is now. Nobody is going to buy 25% of the team just to have a quarter of a say but pay off all Wilpon's debuts. Wilpon will fight it then by end of the year, will realize it's a lost battle and will then sell 100% of the team, to Donald Trump most likely, then that "sale" will take 6-9 months as Trump will need to look over the books and such. Jose Reyes will walk as a free agent.
Mets, or should i say Debts, are in major trouble.
