Such a long season. Hopefully we get off to a good start though. I really like our offensive lineup. Good to see Zambrano start out with a W. Hopefully Dempster keeps his 08 form and proves to be worth the contract he got. I'm really only worried about the closer situation. If Gregg struggles put Marmol in the closer role ASAP.

Cubs up 8-0 in the 3rd. Soriano leading off an inning for the 3rd time!

Good to see Fukudome getting off to a good start. Maybe he will keep it up a full year this time.

Aramis with a big double.

Lilly certainly not pitching too good, but luckily we are still up 5.

HR for Kosuke as well (now 4-5 on the night with a BB). Awesome to see him getting this boost of confidence; we all know he needed it.

2 out of 3. Not bad. That's what I expected.

Nice to see that offense early. It could of been worse, Moehler was lucky Hill hit into that DP or he wouldn't have got out of the first inning.

The only thing I don't like was Lilly getting touched up for 4 homers. But it was the first start, no worries.

I wish I could have seen this game, but I had to work. Good to see the Cubs finally break free on offense.

Also, Cardinals lost tonight!

Cubs about to open up a series against the Brew Crew in Milwaukee.

Gametime: 3:05 (about 25 minutes)

Harden (!) vs. Looper

Get it done, Cobs.

Bradley with his first dinger as a Cub, though we are down 2-1. Looper's pitch count is way up there early though, so we should get a crack at a few guy from the pen.

What the hell was with that ending? Theriot was an idiot there. He had the double play to end the inning and he threw it home? Horrible.

Good thing it's a long season.

Marmol should close. I wanted him to be the closer last year, I want him this year. Not because of this one game, because it is a long year. I just think your best reliever should be the one who closes games.

Some argue he's more valuable in the 7th or 8th. Well if that's the case, how come set up men don't get the mega contacts. It's closers that get the mega contracts, because they are the best at closing games.

I don't like it when a Closer throws in the 81-89 range mostly. Gregg topped out at 94, but only threw a heater a few times. Get Marmol in there, I don't want to see this. Bullpens kill good teams.

Soriano with a clutch 2 run homer in the 9th, and the Cubs stun Milwaukee.
