What does Soriano do well? Only single thing I can think of is he has a good arm in the outfield. Aside from that he is bad. very very bad

Barney hits the ball on the ground a lot. That is why he has so many double plays.
It depends on what you mean as a hitter. If you are talking about the ability to make contact and hit for an average, then Barney isn't a bad hitter. If you are talking about any of the other skills that make a hitter useful (hitting for power, working the count, high OBP, etc.) he isn't a good hitter. Theriot is an interesting comparison because they are probably worth about the same as a ballplayer it is just their value comes from slightly different skills.
That is important as well. Barney is far from a speedster. He isn't slow, but he doesn't have blazing speed either. When you combine that with hitting the ball on the ground all the time it adds up to a lot of double plays.

Well just before Barneys, injury himself and Castro were the top hitting middle infielding pair in the NL. He is a young player. Hate on the old players playing like shit not the young players who can actually improve.

I was talking about Barney. Soriano's value is solely dependent on his ability to occasionally hit the ball very far. That on a team that is largely devoid of power is a useful skill however. No one is arguing that Soriano is a great player or a great value, but the idea that he is main or the biggest reason this team sucks as much as it does is wrong.

Barney is 25 years old. We aren't talking about a guy that has a ton of room for growth. It isn't like Barney is likely to get any bigger, at least naturally, to add any power or suddenly learn to work the count at this age or develop Tony Campana speed. And without any one of those features to add to his game he is a useful player while cheap, but he isn't likely to get much better than what he is right now. That isn't hating on the player. It is an honest assessment of his abilities.

A-Ram is best Cub player right now. Byrd is over rated in my opinion. He just AVG at everything.

He not old either. still only 25 and for rookie to be hitting over .300 is good. Im not saying he a future all star but he dont suck. i still see him as a really good utitilty player on a winning team.
