I didn't understand your post thats all.

That's fine, let him start in the 5-6 and give him 8 minutes a night. We don't need Leddy though as our #5 or 6. Bring in Lalonde or one of our guys in Rockford or sign a cheap D man and let the kid develop.
Gotcha.

I've never seen him skate live. Just letting people know what the Hawks think.

Sure it does. Just like all those saying he'd go back to London to play.

We'll see Mr. Expert.
I don't know what he'd have to prove in the OHL if they had sent him back.

I don't think anyone suggested him going back to London as he had nothing left to prove in the OHL and it would be a waste of his time and development.
You must have not been reading ANY board then.

Are you fucking crazy? Kane himself thought he was going back to London. Havlat getting hurt sealed his fate. No one suggested he go back to London? LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

Ron, A defenseman's job, in addition to looking "flashy" and being a "powerplay QB" and all the other things Hawk fans love to talk about, is doing the hard work. Clearing the crease, digging pucks out of the corner, etc.

That's not Kane's job, so his lack of size is not an issue. There are many smaller forwards in the NHL that thrive. Guys like Camillieri, Briere, etc. But name me a bunch of all star caliber defenseman that are 5'11" and 170lbs. The only guy I can think of is Mark Streit and he's got 40lbs on Leddy and been in the league for a number of years now.

Don't tell me that size isn't an issue for an NHL defenseman.

Actually that was my first year of College so I wasn't on the boards back then as much as I had in the past.

That would have been a wasted year of development for him as he had just got done destroying the OHL. There was no way the Hawks were going to send him back, especially with all the hype him and Toews were getting that summer.

Well Trev most people, including the player himself wasn't sure where he'd end up.

I'm done now. I'm sorry I said anything in the first place. Last time I make that mistake.

I'm pretty sure Leddy has played against a few big players in college and can handle himself, and again...how big was Duncan Keith his rookie year?

No way. Whaler said it isn't possible. He's the hockey god you know.

**** that. Right now the Hawks think he can. That's all I was saying.

Based on his salary cap hit I don't see Leddy being the NHL this year.

From Capgeek

900k base salary, 500k performance bonus. That's a 1.4 million cap hit. Not until he can't possibly reach his performance bonuses anymore.

Could of sworn he wasn't given any bonuses and it was just a contract for $2.7M for 3 years.

He'll be in the AHL making that solid 67.5k a year, more than college unless you play football or basketball.

LOTS of people suggested he go back to London, but the guy who made the decisions always knew he would make it to the show. That person just never let PK know it so he would work that much harder to try and prove he could play in the NHL.

I'm not a hockey God. I just play one on message boards.

You have your opinion Ron, I have mine. I'll be stunned if he plays 8 minutes a game for us this year. Stunned. That's all. Have stranger things happened? Sure. But from watching this guy in person, I think he's got incredible talent, but physically, I don't think he's ready.

Not sure the Keith comparisons are apt. Leddy is 20. Keith didn't make the NHL until he was 22.

Yea I know but I wasn't talking about that guy. Pat really knew he was never going back.

It's not my opinion Whaler, it was something I heard through the grapevine. Which if you read correctly I said a couple of times now.

I have no opinion on him as I've never seen him play. My only opinion is that Tallon wanted him before Minny took him in the draft.

While he was signed this year with the idea he could play the 5-6 man after what THEY saw at Prospect Camp and previous expectations.

Your opinion is he shouldn't. Good for you and really, thinking of it, I might possibly agree with you. Maybe he shouldn't. Although if it was between Cullimore and or Leddy I don't know which the worse evil would be. But that's 100% not WHY I typed that!!!!

As for Keith, Seabrook and Barker IMO they could have ALL used more time in the AHL, rather than being thrown into the BULLSHIT team we had on the ICE. In hind sight maybe those REALLY BAD experiences helped them. In fact that first year they were both better than our Top pair all year!
