Ribeiro has more assists than Davey Boy has points.

nah, it's not all about physical play

but physical play is a blueprint to neutralize a small, skillful team. if you dont have the skilled personnel that can outskate them or even keep up in a foot race, you take the speed away from the hawks as much as you can. nashville, st louis, dallas... they all just work hard defensively and wear teams down by finishing every hit, large or small. those hits add up... by the third period, players are either physically weaker from taking the abuse and fighting back or they're mentally checked out and just don't want to go into another corner battle knowing that they're going to get hit again.

it's nothing new. it happened tonight.

Boston Bruins...Stanley Cup. A good mix of skill and grind.

Hawks have plenty of skill, need some useful grind.

outhit 41 to 15

dallas scored all their goals in the 3rd when they were running laps around the hawks who were tired of getting hit

physical play won

Physical play hurt the Hawks in this one. I believe konroyd even said it during one of the intermissions that Dallas will hit, hit, hit then attack.

 ok meatball, keep thinking the NHL is all about physical play.

thats why "detroit sucks" right?

Actually Detroit can be very physical. In their last 3 games they out hit teams in 2 of them. They dominated the Canucks in hitting tonight 25-11.

bruins... skill grind and size

lucic, horton, bergeron, thornton, chara, boychuck, mcquaid... BIG dudes

size isn't everything but when you have a guy like lucic constantly leaning on your top defensive pairing all night, that absolutely wears on someone like keith and come the third period- the legs might not have the juice they did before.

then to be able to roll out big line after big line that can actually handle the puck, skate and shoot? tough to beat.

Aye.

The Hawks really needed more than the 1 goal they earned during the first two periods when they were controlling the play.

Team riding high after a 4-game winning streak playing without their captain ... trap game all the way. Dallas is outside the playoffs looking in. They needed and wanted this one more than the Blackhawks and it showed.

Dallas sat back with a 1-4 forecheck and let the Blackhawks come to them. Instead of chipping it over the Stars D and fighting it out behind the net on the boards, Chicago kept trying to pass their way into the zone. It can work on nights when the Hawks are on their game. Tonight, they weren't.

Very disappointing, but no cause for concern. Just throw this one away and get ready for Saturday.

HAHA! Thats too funny!

Are you shitting me? Seriously?

The Hawks have six player (Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook) that would walk into ANY franchise and could easily assume a spot on the top line. They have PLENTY OF SKILL on their roster.

So they're missing a 2nd line center. Great. Still a roster loaded with skill.

They are so great that adding your perfect Dman that you want and a grinder with no addition of a pure skill player, still does not put them in the finals let alone the cup, thats how great their skill is.

2 for sure: SOLID Dman and a skilled 2nd line center

the grinder is last on my list.

Didn't mean to get ya started on that grinder stuff. That's not even close to a "must need".

Yeah, and a week after the Hawks would've acquired Carter you'd ***** about him partying too much with Kane.

Skill alone never won a Stanley Cup. But you show me a team that's assembled more skill than the Hawks have.

You could however kill 2 birds with one stone. Get a #2 center that's not afraid to mix it up. Bob mckenzei is reporting the kings will take offers on Dustin Brown. He's not a center but definately a top 6 for the Hawks, can help the power play, and use his big body
