Didn't Kershaw have a great postseason last year?
Prior to that? He stunk
Didn't Kershaw have a great postseason last year?
Darvish and Chatwood < or > then Arrieta and Lackey in the cubs rotation with Lester Quintana Hendricks?

They're still not better than the Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers.
Don't think a 38 YO Rich Hill will be that effective either..I like a matchup with the Dodgers. I think they’ll take a step back this year before really becoming great next year with Buehler, Verdugo and a healthy Urias. No way Turner, Taylor and Puig have seasons like last year, Seager’s back is an issue and I don’t buy Alex Wood repeating his 2017. Thus year is a great opportunity for the Cubs. The Nationals are still the team to beat though.
Arrieta was and may still be looking for more then 21 per. and i think he wants 6-7 yrs guarenteed at the 25+ he and his agent looking foryou gave Yu Jake Arrieta's money and you will get what you deserve.
Wendy's WTF, man
All MLB scouts and most fans know the Cubs have one of the worst farm systems in MLB http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ted-farm-system-rankings-at-the-start-of-2018Woo-hoo! Like Beck, I like Darvish's K/9 and BB/9 a WHOLE lot. If nothing goes seriously bad in terms of injuries in '18, I think the Cubs just took a head-and-shoulders lead in being the favorites to win the Central again this year.
I'm happy that we're now in a position where we can make some adjustments, through a fairly deep farm system (especially at AAA) and, if need be, through trade, to deal with quirks and hiccups. But the most important base platform, the starting rotation, is now petty well patted into shape.
Let's go get 'em!
Living here in St. Louis now, where checking Cards fans predictably unrealistic reactions to everything is a regular exercise. If they are not still clinging to the Cubs lack of a WS for 108 years, they are looking out for the Ricketts' wallets.
Bad contract. They should have saved money. We'll now sign Jake Arrieta on a three year deal. (Because logically, after not giving in to a shorter contract while remaining unsigned for months, he would settle for three years immediately after the dam breaks, and Darvish gets a six-year deal.) Their logic is mind-boggling.
I like their chili and it's cheap.
I would rather see Monty get a chance to start honestly. This is just like Dan Straily. Came over. Never caught on then traded out. Now he is a solid mid tier piece.
Way I look at it is his highest value is in a trade piece with his age and control. Cubs have depth at LH PB where trading him makes sense. Add to it they have Smyly shelved if needed down the road
I believe "I like their chili" deserves another "WTF, man?"
Why would you want a mid-tier piece starting ahead of Darvish, Lester, Hendricks, Quintana or Chatwood?
