It's never been about practicality---it's like a hobby. I consider it no different than anyone else who is a collector of something. My something just happens to be something I can actually use in daily life.

See there that's a rational and completely understandable response. So where's this picture of you and blue/orange shoes.

In any event I think you'd have to concede that my book jones FAR outpaces anything that I conspicuously consume---shoes will always place a distant second to me in terms of priorities and what I value.

Fool, one of the pics from the other day was with my foot in those blue booties WITH some cuffed up jeans! It's just that you saw a close up cropping of it. So we're all taken care of on that front. NEXT!

So a pic of you wearing nothing but the shoes and smile is out of the question?

Dear Mule,

Do you add the fabric softener sheet straight in top the dryer with the wet clothes, or wait until they dry a bit so the dryer sheet doesn't get soggy?

Signed,

Dearest April-fresh,

It doesn't matter if you put the dryer sheet in with wet clothes or dry as the dryer will dry the clothes and the dryer sheet as well. The clothes will still smell like a spring day and will be static free. However, depending on the chemicals in it, the dryer sheet will probably give you any number of cancers and other illnesses. So fear not for your clothes!

Carcinogenically yours,

Mule

Dearest Mule,

In light of your response to Tater's probing question about dryer sheets I feel compelled to now follow up and ask what your thoughts are about bleach when doing the laundry. I personally can't stand the stuff and feel that I can "feel" it on my skin and it irritates me if clothes have been washed with it. But many people old skool and new skool still swear by the stuff. I'd be interested in what the artistic hispter community in VAN thinks about this.

Yours,

Washing their clothes is too conformist

Dearest Chlorox-Free,

I too am not a bleach user, well not for clothes. In an over 100 year old apartment, there are times when bleach is the only, old school answer. I also feel it's an irritant and the smell can ruin even the cutest of outfits. I don't know of any hipster friends who use bleach in their cleaning, but I can count one librarian and one yuppie as the only bleach users in my inner circle. Oxyclean is kind of hot right now, though.

Unbleached,

Mule

Now I do admit to throwing in some OxyClean here and there so I understand that train! I don't notice any residual effects from OxyClean. And you are so right, bleach does start to ruin or rather degrade cloth fibers so another major reason not to use the infernal stuff IMO.

Thank goodness you are here to answer our inquiries or alternately just reassure us about our life choices. TBQH, I don't know how this joint functioned all these years when you were just this "myth" that TCD kept blabbering on about. For reals.

A little somethin' somethin' I was inspired to cook up just for Jako as I was getting ready this morning. Because I want him to have something like visions of sugar plums dancing in his head only in this case visions of sweet, sweet pointy toe shoes. Now don't be scared Jako---everytime they disgust or firghten you just calm down and picture them playing an adorable game of "Tag Jako's Sphincter" as though they were wedged up into your no man's land and kicking your hairy ass then it won't be so bad. K?

You're welcome. {{smooches}}

This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Jako, you better appreciate the damn fine workmanship and design that went into these sweet puppies and the excellent effort put in by Books. Just marvel at their beauty.

Also, shoe in sphincter jokes are fucking phenomenal. Hilarious. Although, Jako is probably thinking about doing it now that it's been mentioned. Meh. He's allowed.

Surely the "Mule" actually wears/owns a pair of "Mules". I'd imagine bookie does as well.

That's cliche. I don't do Louboutins or Jimmy Choos or Manolos. Those are the "Big 3" everyone knows about in the pop culture---there's LOADS more high-end designers than those 3. . .do not believe what the Kardashians tell you! LOL

I love Robert Clergerie, Guillaume Hinfray, Stephane Kelian, Stuart Weitzman, Vivian Westwood, Ferragamo, Sonia Rykiel, Bettye Muller, Moschino, Jean-Michel Cazabat, Sigerson Morrison, Peter Kent, blah blah blah Icouldgoonforevershoecakes. And that's not even getting into company brands.

WTH, in that pic alone are multiple pairs of Bettye Mullers, multiple Stuart Weitzmans, Nicole Miller, Isaac Mizrahi, Jean-Michel Cazabat, Moschino. That's hardly shabby.

Yeah, but no Chuck Taylor All-Stars?

Sacrilege.
