At the end, Ben said it himself. He needs his OC to do the majority of the leg work during the week, then he can tweak it to his liking. The behind the scenes will be handled by Doyle. He also said his OC will have to work long late hours. What better way than to ask a pipsqueak like Doyle to work long hours if he wants to keep moving up and be something. I’ll give you the chance but you have to work long days for me.

So the OC is the clerk during the week, and some sort of low level assistant on game day that drives the injury cart?

I kid I kid, but I hope that Doyle (am I the only one who thinks that name sounds sarcastic?) can handle a step up from TE coach. I would like to hope that he offers something of value other than potential

I hope so too and can learn even more as he goes. Just cause he’ll be a servant doesn’t mean he can’t learn and get better. Especially at that age. We will see.

Maybe he will find use in going through the playbook on game day, preparing a short list of suggested passing plays that would have worked in any such situation, to help prepare halftime adjustments?

I know I am spitballing but I really have no idea what to expect out of this OC. My eyebrow is acutely raised!

I wonder if they go after someone like the Assistant OL coach from teams like the Chiefs or the Eagles - teams that have had really good OL play for years now. You are not going to get their OL coach, but is their understudy ready, willing, and able to take a promotion to OL coach?

It would be awesome if there was a free agent, experienced, and good OL coach. But I have no idea who those people are.

Me neither but as long as their name ends with Doyle, we are good!

Superbowl confirmed after looking for more info about him

Doyle is also the nephew of NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Ditka.

Laughing because Chicago fans don't know how to react to an offensive - minded head coach who will be in total control from the beginning.

Not that I can entirely blame them. They only had Trestman and Nagy to go off of, but neither one was set up the way Ben Johnson is.

Here's the thing. The OC being young is perfect. A young up-and-comer who can be Ben Johnson's secretary and do a lot of his leg work. And someone that young will get experience, and if the Bears start to succeed, is going to start getting better job offers quickly even though he doesn't call plays. Because this happens all across the league practically every year.

In short, you get to be Ben Johnson's errand boy for two to three years for an opportunity to accelerate your career afterwards and be your own play caller or even head coach, if the Chicago Bears end up successful on their Ben Johnson.

If the Bears start winning, the Bears OC position will be looked at as a fast track to more high profile positions in the NFL, and the routine loss of them will not matter because Ben Johnson is our de facto play caller and OC.
