Plan A stayed in Detroit, so they’re being thorough knowing it’s an important hire. Ben doesn’t personally know any of them, so it is what it is… gotta meet and figure it all out.

Thank you. Rational take and I just hope Frye wasn’t their 2nd choice. I’d have preferred we had decisiveness like we did with Allen for this specific hire.

But apparently because I have not had detailed relationships with these coaches that is an incredibly insane reaction to have.

Do we know Plan A was Fraley? (Or whatever his name is). All I saw was some fan speculation there. Fan speculation doesn’t equal “plan A”

I was pleasantly shocked when George made that Joe Buck comment.

I literally laughed out loud. I do think George is letting his hair down. I bet he had some adrenaline rolling after he said that. 🤣

i can only go by reporters or media or whatever they are. Enough smoke where his wife posted “we are staying in Detoilet” or whatever it was. They also promoted him and gave him more money.

Also what is more likely that BJ wants his current oline coach from the Lions or the guy who has been at Tulane for 3 years?

Obviously no one is in the room with Ben Johnson why even ask this?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Justin Frye is a great oline coach by all accounts. It took the Cardinals one day to hire him while we wait for the Grandpa to unclutch his pearls.
We don’t really know how great he actually is.

I literally replied to someone else asking this 😂

Fair enough. Reading the wiki on him, Frye seems like a potential up and coming coach. He's still only 41 and seemingly been successful wherever he goes in the college ranks.

But, it's always a concern of how stuff translates to the NFL and he has 0 NFL experience as either a coach or player.

“By all accounts” was typed for a reason. We know he was good enough to be interviewed here and hired by another team within 24 hours of their last oline coach getting promoted.

OMG you mean you don’t have in depth knowledge of him? How dare you speak on him, oh wait this is positive spin for the Bears which is the team I like. Please continue.

By the way you are every other team picks great coaches and the Bears get the scraps.
IDK who the **** Justin Frye is and niether do you? What’s his style of coaching? Does he fit in well with Ben’s system? If you don’t know then quit crying

For the record I am not criticizing you for negative spin. It’s the making shit up.

It’s not even what I wrote and I’ve answered this like 5 times. You sound like this to me:

“How dare you question my Bears! They can do no wrong and I can’t allow my mind to think anything negative cause I can’t process my feelings”

Again I’m not a reporter, I did not state anything as fact or publish something. I’m simply making a reasonable assumption. You may think it’s unreasonable and that’s perfectly ok. But don’t paint me like I’m trying to be SearsTower or something.

This is a damn boomer message board for us past our prime people with nothing better to do.

How long it’s taking for his most important offensive hire. It’s all a snowball effect from Fraley’s wife saying no to the OC promotion. Then you have Notre Dame’s coach saying no thanks. So now we are on option 3, great.

If Fraley says yes we don’t have this issue or the Doyle hire which came out of left field. Nothing seems organized and he is struggling to build a staff it’s obvious.

But go ahead tell people it’s all great.
ND’s coach never said no thanks. Bears never offered him from what ND fans have said

I do think it's getting concerning that they don't have an OL coach lined up yet. It's often talked about as the next most important hire on the offensive side of the ball after the OC.

The best case scenario to me right now seems to be hoping that Roushar is willing and able to come back to the NFL for a couple of years. And then they hire an Asst OL coach that just needs a little bit more seasoning to take over when Roushar retires, likely in the near future.

Also, is it just me, or do most NFL OL coaches seem old? Like, where the hell were they from ages 30-55, that you only start to hear their names once they can theoretically do early retirement and half of them probably qualify for Medicare?

I’d prefer to have more reasons to be excited vs “whelp I trust Dennis Allen”.
Then that’s on you. However like @BaBaBlacksheep said, you probably haven’t heard of the majority of these guys before. Me neither. So I trust what an experienced and successful DC does with his staff for the time being.
