They won’t get 3 firsts + , even if Watson is worth it.
Teams, for the most part, overvalue draft picks and the Texans have no leverage. It really does look like Watson is just straight-up done with them.
Watson’s no-trade clause also hurts what could’ve been the value, because if they know there are only a few teams he’ll say yes to, it’s much more of a buyer’s market than it otherwise would’ve been,
The best move for the Texans might be to just take the best deal and call Watson’s bluff on invoking the no-trade clause, basically saying, “Hey, it’s either this team or you’re going this year without getting paid if you don’t report.”
The great unknown is, how badly does Watson truly want out? How desperate is he? It sounds like it’s a no-matter-what situation. If it is, that might be good for the Bears. Who the hell knows, though?
