Thats not fun either. But right now Mather better player. So he deserves to play. As a fan thats all you can ask is your manager to put the best lineup out he can. Stewart in a lineup does not do that
Sure I want the best possible lineup for today when my team isn't going to win anything this year. Yeah I couldn't have other priorities as a fan.

I changed my post because I should stick to what I've said. No player has ever gotten better at this age or had his performance affected by wrist injuries. And so D3A is right we ought to DFA Stewart right now because it makes this team so much better to be playing Joe Mather.

Not going to make team "so much better" but he a more productive player right now. Team going to lose 100+ games with either on the team. Just tired of people making excuses for Stewart. Its simple. He sucks

Garza puts another nail in the coffin of the pitcher batting in the National League...the DH beckons. Sigh.

Its been 3 yrs man. Its just not been this year. If he hurt so bad then go on damn DL and get better. Just tired of hearing excuses for him

I'm saying that wins and losses don't matter this year. Playing guys should be with the goal of making this team better in the future. Some guys need to play inspite of performance like Soriano and Soto when he comes back to raise their stock for trade. Some guys should be played because they are the most ready and have the highest upside. Some guys shouldn't be on the roster because this year doesn't matter.

You are right no player has ever had a bad 3 years and been productive later.

You been watching him all year. You really think he will be productive? He looks awfull and i mean awfull at the plate. We both watch 90% of the games. Everything i see he is not a good hitter. He always will be a guy who hits .225 or less. 10-15 HR. Thats not a productive hitting in the MLB. Also can you name me any hitters that have sucked for 3 yrs then bounce back to be a productive everday player? They usually become bench players or AAA players

I think whether or not he really is that bad is immaterial at this point. They need to give him a certain number of plate appearances for evaluation purposes. If this season mattered then yes, you definitely bench him in favor of the hot bat. But since it doesn't, you have the luxury of putting a guy in for longer than usual to see how he does. Give him as much of the season as possible. At the end, if he's terrible, you cut him, no harm done. If he improves, then that's a bonus for next year. It's not the end of the world to play Mather over Stewart or vice versa

I don't know what he will be, but I do know that he has put up a good line before. I know that he has been hurt the past two seasons. I see a number of statistically indicators that point to better performance in the future. None of that guarantees that he is going to be good. However a guy that can play a good 3B with an 800 OPS is a guy I wouldn't mind having, and he has done that. You want to call it excuses, but wrist injuries with hitters tae a long time to get over in some cases. I just don't see the harm in giving Stewart at bats in this season to see if he can get back to that guy.

I understand they want to give him a chance. He just has no signs showing he can break out of it. If this was a player that hasnt sucked in the last 3 years in the MLB i be all for playing him. Not like this a young kid getting his feet wet.

Castro back over .300 :woot:

He had 1 yr over .800 OPS and that was in 81 games. He has never done it for a full season. That was also in Coors. We all know Coors is a hitters paradice
