Has the Gabby Sanchez talk disappeared?

I would love to add a high upside young power hitting 1st baseman and as much as I love Prince Fielder I want him on Cubs terms not on Boras terms.

That contract and the Jason Werth contract could kill the Nationals.

Yes because he's the Marlins 1B. Their was only talk about Sanchez if the Marlins signed Fielder and that's highy unlikley.

I hope brett is right and we are 62 Mets terrible so we beat out the Astros for the #1 overall pick.

Ah, see I never said the Cubs shouldn't be doing this bad baseball beat. It's hard to swallow but a bomb is sometimes exactly what is needed.

The Cubs are like Shopping Malls. Malls that get remodeled usually continue to fail. If you level the whole mall and start from scratch on the same spot it has a much greater chance of succeeding.

The Cubs are Orland Park Place.

not really...depends how you remodel

you level the whole thing and start from scratch...takes a long ass time to even get a new mall

perhaps level one area and put a sears?

Nope, it's a level mall and start over, not piece by piece or remodel. Remodel works only for malls that are already successful

lol@this completely broad generalization

the point of "depends how you remodel" applies to the cubs as well...depends who you are trading and/or drafting..specifically what moves are you making?

are we looking for adam laroche remodeling or prince fielder/edwin jackson remodeling

there's a difference

and not all rebuilding is successful or more successful than remodeling(really in either cases)

you could rebuild...have a young core..but perhaps alot of the prospects you have dont pan out...you're taking less of a risk than perhaps a remodel but the risk is there nonetheless...

now in this case do i support a complete rebuild...well it looks that way(pending whatever the hell is going on with castro)...

our pitching is gonna be pretty bad...our offense will be meh..defense meh

its probably a 70 win team...and we have some good pieces

the point of rebuilding is for long term success by establishing foundation....at the same time i dont think in a market like this it should be constant intervals of success and rebuilding....there is remodeling as well..you act like thats pointless when its not

I think brett's analogy is fine. As it stands, the Cubs need to tear the place down and build back up before they can remodel. That seems like a fair assessment to me. Naturally I could be wrong and often am, but I don't think brett is completely wrong, if at all. The only amendment I'd make is that a remodel will work for a mall that is on the fence to try to make it more successful. If the mall is failing, there's no point, just tear it down.
