I know I'm being stupid, but I'm still calling shenanigans on that injury.

Danny boy sitting the rest of that game was Vigneault playing dirty pool.

There are actually people out there who will agree with you on this.

Personally, I do not. I think he was injured. That reminded me a lot of the Kubina/Bolland hit from last year.

I just don't believe that a coach would sit a player in the hopes of getting a suspension against a team that they won't be playing while that player would be suspended. Just too much to think about plus I'm sure Sedin would have wanted to get back in there, just like any hockey player would have.

yeah and I don't believe players fall extra hard to get calls or stay down a little longer to make sure they get a major called.

yeah, none of that happens in the nhl. horse shit.

Yea, but having the coach hold a player out for the game and say it is due to "injury" when it really isn't, is taking it to a whole different level.

I mean, if Sedin is held out for the next game are people going to say that is the Canucks just playing head games with the NHL?

Based on the blow to the head, I think it is completely in the realm of possibilities that he is truly injured. Hell, I think that is clearly the best possibility here.

Anything more than 1 for that hit is too much.

Wiki's definition of a Canuck:

"The term appears to have been coined in the 19th century, although its etymology is unclear, it usually referred to those who worked in a forest, usually cultivating wood."

lol

With no prior history, 2-3 games max.

yeah, I imagine 3 max.

well earned too. I like what mayers and bollig have brought to this team, but they only ever target other tough guys. tough guy on tough guy aggression really doesn't do much in the grand scheme of things. you do a lot more by targeting a star player - something that the blues do very well for example. I don't care if someone runs mayers or even a guy like kruger. but when toews kane or sharp get run... that's the kind of stuff that makes a difference.

keith broke the rules and he'll get some time off for it. on the bright side, he leveled the canucks top offensive player who may have gone a little high on him earlier in the game. I like it.

another thing about the hit...

those plays where the puck is up in the air and a d man hits a flat footed forward... they are often awkward hits. the forwards body doesn't have a lot of give and the d man doesn't have a ton of speed coming in. often what happens is they collide and neither guy really budges and the followthrough of the d man can often end with his arms going high.

now, the puck wasn't close and keiths hit STARTED high so...

but those are often odd hits. that's all I'm saying.

he is getting some time off now for sure.

if we play them again in a playoff series this year, it could be very ugly.

man that would be a series. 4 straight seasons.

can't imagine how tight the stripes would be calling those games. it would be nuts!

extra security in the buildings haha!

5 extra refs plus some big body builders to pull players off each other from brawling.

but seriously it could indeed be one of the highest penalty min totals in the playoffs. Im sure any stupid play they will be quick to toss players out.

This has to be the hawks biggest rival and most hated team.

While Sedin started the whole thing, it doesn't make it right. Also, Keith's hit was a whole lot worse than Sedin's. Not even close.

Keith deserves right around 3 games. Keith really needs to control himself better as this is his 3rd cheap shot this year (recently had 2 butt ends that were bad). Seems like he is getting frustrated way too easily.

disagree. that is still pretty nasty of sedin. i would say keiths was worse because of where the puck was and intentions, but not "whole lot worse"

the video shows it all

Disagree. I like seeing it.

Remember when he ran Cooke in retaliation?

I like that kind of play from my D men.

Sedin did not directly target the head and the head wasn't the direct point of contact with his shoulder. It was still a head shot because of the follow through. Sedin should not, and will not, see a suspension because of this hit.

Keith used his elbow instead of the shoulder, which is worse in my opinion. The puck was up in the air and not recently played, which is worse in my opinion. The head was the main point of contact, which is worse.

I think Keith's was a whole lot worse.

I'm not a fan of a cheap play like this one or the last.

If you want to get a guy back, score on the PP (if there is one) or run him cleanly. Give him something a little extra in front of the net or the corner (love tap to the back of the leg, facewash, whatever), I don't care. However, targeting the head just isn't right, even if in retaliation.
