Or because they're a combined -24 in their postseason careers ....
Or because they're a combined -24 in their postseason careers ....
I'm really hoping this is just getting overblown. Keith is definitely worthy of a suspension, but anything more than 3 games is completely unfounded and a major transition from what the league has been doing all season long.
It's completely fucking ridiculous if they decide to hammer down on one guy 75 games into a season, especially a guy that has a clean record.
For comparison, I present Pavel Kubina's elbow on Dave Bolland last year. Kubina sat three games for this. Only difference between this and Keith's play is the possible premeditation of Keith's hit. I don't believe Kubina had any such motive, other than being a piece of shit. Bolland missed a little over a month with the concussion suffered on this play.

If Keith gets more than three, it's simply unjust.
Great...now they want an in-person hearing
if Doan only gets 3 games being a repeat offender, and Keith gets equal that or more, that is Special person
That was LAST year...which is a huge difference. Shanaban has been cracking down this year in a huge way. If Kubina sat 3 games for that, expect Keith to sit more this year for a similar play.
he's been cracking down in an inconsistent way. started out strong (wiz preseason 8 gamer) and has eased up since. a players star level is also still a point of contention.
I still don't see how keith gets more than doan just got. doan is a repeat offender who was also just recently fined.
its in person now??
Strongest suspension I can imagine is keith sitting for the rest of the regular season.
I say that because if he somehow misses playoff time, the disciplinary system is more screwed than I can comprehend.
Wow. The NHL really is a joke.
Phone hearing.
Oh wait we want you to come in person for a hearing, but you don't have to, you can stick with a phone hearing, which means a reduction in suspension.
Why would the NHL tell Keith its a phone hearing, and then offer an in-person hearing with the potential for a longer suspension? No it doesn't. The player always has the right to waive their in person hearing and do it over the phone instead. Keith waived his in person hearing but can still get more than 5 games.
