I can’t be the only one getting the feeling that Eberflus will probably stick around next year. It just seems like a McCaskey move. Improving from 3 wins to 5 wins will make those morons think the team is headed in the right direction. Winning is good and all but if you look at the big picture, it might lead us to another wasted year with a lame duck HC in 2024.

It'll be such a Bears move to not only bring him back, but also draft a QB early while Eberflus and his staff are on an extremely short least.

They'll then fire the staff, bring in a new one, stunting that QBs growth.

Eventually, since the QB had not chance to be properly developed, the new staff will want their own guy and the cycle will repeated.

A coach getting fired a year after a rookie QB getting drafted, and said QB getting a new HC in year 2, isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes I think the importance is overblown.

Jeff Fisher was there when Goff was drafted. Got fired, an McVay got hired. Goff got better.

Urban Meyer was there when Lawrence was drafted. He got fired, and Doug Peterson got hired. Lawrence got better.

I can't remember the name of the Chargers coach when Herbert was drafted.... but he got fired, and they hired another shitty coach in Brandon Staley, and Herbert was still good.

In general, there are plenty of good QBs who go through a coaching change, and still succeed despite having a HC who wasn't there when they were drafted.

And there are a bunch of rookie head coaches who bring in "their" guy, only for the QB to still suck, and then it costs both of them their jobs.

This isn't a post advocating for the retention of Flus... But if he were to stick around and we draft a QB and Flus gets fired a year later, we'd still be fine as long as the guy we draft is worth a shit.

I think it’s pretty much a given that Flus is a dead man walking.
I wouldn’t be so sure. The defense has improved. QB1 is hurt. If they win 5-6 wins, he can make a compelling case to keep him another years. Plus with how cheap McCaskeys are, do you think they would want to start over and pay the remaining 3 years of his contract. I don’t even care about the draft picks, I just want Flus gone. If that means losing the next 8 straight to be certain then so be it.

It buys Poles another year, imho, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is back.

The only way I want him coaching is if we have a way to get a great offensive mind to go with him. Someone who can bring the best out of this offense... I don't think it's Getsy...

If they plan on bringing in a QB theyd be idiots to stick with this staff. That being said Poles and Eberflus inherited Justin and hes clearly not theyre guy. If Bagent plays well and this offense looks good with him i think you may be right and they will blame the failure on JF and bring back GEtsy and Eberflus and let them draft their guy.

My guess is he will be here next season

- Last season was the tear down - can't really give to much fault for that.
- This season is the first season of the re-build - one of the youngest teams in the NFL-
- 3rd yr QB struggling in some games/Good a couple - Offense works when QB executes
- Young defense showing promise with him calling plays - Had some injuries in the secondary early on
- Has not lost the locker room...

Poles will be here no matter what - Flus will get 3 seasons unless it is total disaster by season end.

With the shitbags left on the schedule; a "run" to 7-10 after an 0-4 start might actually keep him around

Flus might somehow pull another year out of his ass. He has the defense playing quite well since he took over as the DC and is doing it without the stud 3 Tech that is so important in a Cover 2. I am not sure that is sustainable, but I think the more likely scenario is the OC gets replaced and they run it back if the Bears start winning more consistently. Win total, not sure what that would take. I am afraid the McCaskeys are not measuring wins and losses, but rather stature of a try hard team that is over-acheiving giving them a feel good story, but if it falls off the rails like it looked like it was heading earlier this year, then they clean house. I think Poles somehow sticks unless Warren wants major change.

No, I think Poles fires him, and uses the prospect of an offensive-minded HC to argue for a 3 year window to turn the team into an annual playoff contender.

It would be little more than a watered down version of Pace with Fox and Nagy.

Currently 0-8 against the North. He gone...

But then again...it is the Bears. He could end up going 1-11 against the division after this year and George would want to retain him because that win was against the lowly Packers

Bears or not it is also the NFL. Everflus is gone on black Monday if not before. Coaches with his record don’t get third chances.
