Yeah man, I want it to be something worth the site's name. Hopefully things go smooth.

I am leaving this poll up for a few more days, maybe until Monday morning, after that majority rules...then we need to decide when the actual draft is held.

Please all owners need to vote, the present poll concerning the amount of keepers will be online until the 29th. On the 30th, I will focus on other concerns. Whatever the majority is, will be the rule.

Is the page kind of down? I often get "site not available". For example when I want to go to the schedule.

I don't know about it being down...I get that too, I am sure that once the rosters are finalized, the schedules will be online with no problem.

So when the draft will be on October 17th or 18th, when will we know the draftboard? I mean the order we will pick in.

That would make the researches much easier ;)

I prefer October 18th (Friday) as the draft day.

Re:

I believe the 17th is on a Saturday. I was hoping to have the draft that weekend, that meant the 17th or 18th. I figure at some time during that weekend everybody should be free for a couple of hours. So I picked that Saturday and Sunday. That gives people plenty of time to do homework and research.

That said, ESPN makes the draft order an hour before the actual draft. So you will have to log in to find out then...as I will.

I am going to try to set the poll up where you can pick all of the times that you are available for that day. If people are not available after the draft time has been set, ESPN will pick your team for you. So you might not want to miss, unless you have a serious emergency. We also need to discuss prize money. I can open a pen pal account and i am willing to put up no more than $50. With everybody involved, that is $700. The idea is to get something nice for the winner. Again, I am more into getting a prize then giving away the pot because I have seen people show a lack of integrity concerning their trades and other transactions because they have struck an under the table deal with another owner. So I want to get a nice prize for the winner.

A little bulls gift would be much better than stupid money. Do I understand it right that we would have a 50$ buy in then???

How do you think we are going to get a prize if nobody puts in any money?

even a 20$ buy in wouldn't be too bad- a little easier to justify than $50, especially for a college student on a budget

I do like the idea of getting a prize, and $300 can definitely get something nice.

That´s why I said I don´t like the price thing. It should be about fun not about money. I´ve played a soccer fantasy game and money ruined it pretty much.

Re:

Being a poor student (money wise, not grade wise ;) ) I think a buy in might not be feasible, for me and for others. I'm not really into the whole prize thing anyway :p

Re:

Well here is the problem from my standpoint...

In the "free, lets just play for fun" leagues, what is to keep people interested for the whole year? Those are the type of leagues that have half of the league dropping off when they have no chance of winning, not caring about personnel decisions or making any moves, when there is an incentive, people play the game smarter and work harder. Competition is fierce. Otherwise people who "play for fun" no longer want to play, they pick up their ball and go home.

14 people are in the league, I doubt if I can get all 14 people to vote online, now getting people to stay involved over 18 weeks of the season and the playoffs would really be a challenge. But lets see what happens...may need to vote on that.

Maybe we should do only $10 per person??? Smaller amount might be good for everyone?

I personally don't mind but I have no idea how to play this fantasy thing. Can someone help me out on this please?

Re:

How about paying it out over a period of time? Like I said there will be a pen pal account set up that every owner will have access to. And in good faith, I would hope everyone who cannot pay up front would promise to pay their fee for the whole season. Doesn't matter where you are in the standings or even if you quit, you would have to pay the fee like everyone else...if there is any concern, I WILL NOT be holding any money. But some kind of incentive has to be put in place. Otherwise I can guarantee that half of the league will become inactive and I would rather not start it than go through that....

I am a struggling student, living with Moms...no job...so I know what its like. Still, I am in a $30 12 team fantasy football league. I think that would be best though.

All you have to do right now is rate or scout the league, you want to get players that excel in points, rebounds, assists, field goal percentage, 3pts made, free throw percentage, etc...8 stats in all. So you want players that can get you points in each area. You will play another owner every week and each stat represents a game, at the end the team that does better in every stat gets a win for each stat, so if you better your opponent in 5 of the 8 stats, your record will be 5-3 for the week. All you have to worry about right now is the draft. You have to be prepared and have a gameplan. You have to draft 13 guys. 10 starters and 3 bench players. Guards and Forwards can be an unlimited amount, centers are limited to 4 per team.

During the season, you have to monitor your players' health and stats. If a player goes down for a long time with injury and he is not someone you want to keep, you release him and pick up another player off waivers who can help you. The website handles the waiver system, every week they adjust the order according to your record. So when you claim a player, you have to wait so many days, the rest of the league then has a chance to grab the player...if someone who has a higher spot on the waiver list claims the player, the player belongs to them.

You can make trades, no trades for draft picks though. You can make trades up until the deadline, which is in February. If anybody is doing any funny business and making lopsided trades and giving away players, the trade can be vetoed by 4 owners. I would need 2 owners to communicate their dissatisfaction with the deal (anonymously) then I will issue a league-wide poll and a vote will take place. Only 4 votes are needed for the trade to be vetoed...

After the season, owners will have a deadline to decide who their "keepers" will be. Usually the keepers are the best players and the most productive players in the league. All other players on the rosters will be released and available for the draft the following year.

I am hoping to have the means to perform a lottery and maybe have one of the moderators give the results on their show, no one, not even I would know who the lottery winner is until the announcement, but I will worry about that later...any more questions???

Re:

I'm in for $20-$30.
Winner take all? Second gets a %, third gets money back?

I've done the free league and your right people do lose interest, in some cases rather quickly. What's fun about fantasy is no one person has a definitive advantage, meaning regardless of if you've played or not your team can win it all. I got second in a money league last year and it was the first time I've ever played.

Let's throw out some ideas for prizes....

an obvious prize would be a bulls jersey or some sort of apparel... maybe a gift card? Playoff tickets (assuming we advance)?
