Based on what? Mike Tomlin does not see himself as a QB savant. He does not have his entire identity as a HC, wrapped up in the QB. He sees himself as the coach of the ENTIRE TEAM. He gives zero fucks if Fields throws a football for a TD, hands the ball off for a TD, or runs it himself, for a TD. All he cares about, is the TD.

The Steelers have an identity as a team. Fields fits that identity. If the offense scores 25+ points, and controls TOP, to Tomlin it means ****-all if Fields throws for 120 yards, or 300+ yards.

And teammates love Justin. I can’t say how the Steelers’ locker room feels about Russ, but he was not well liked in Seattle or Denver.

As for the 4th over 6th, only someone who dabbles in smoking rock, would think that saving a 4th round pick would cause Tomlin to meddle in what has been a winning formula, and a tie for the division lead, in Pittsburgh.

Denver is paying Russ’ salary to ride pine, not Pittsburgh.
Did Fields just lose the starting job?

Did he? Is that what Tomlin said? Players former and current, aren’t feeling the Steelers pulling Fields. Are we certain that it’s not gamesmanship?

At the end of the day, Fields has 10 TDs to 1 turnover, through 6 games. I think Tomlin is fucking with the Jets and their game planning on D.

We’ll see.

It's interesting to see the vast majority of the Steelers fanbase saying replacing Fields would be a fucking bonehead, moronic move by that coach. They think their Oline sucks and their receivers suck and that they need Fields scrambling ability to win games.

What makes fan bases fall in love with this kid and argue like hell for him as their guy?

Kind of cool that it's happening over there too.

i'm glad tomlin is not our head coach...he spats this bullshit every week..the steelers oline sucks worse than the bears and their plan is to start the far less elusive wilson...well heres hoping wilson sucks so bad they go back to fields and the bears get that 6th rd pick converted to a 4th..

Yea their OL is shit.

Which is why im not worried about that 4th round pick because Wilson will eventually be hurt again playing behind that OL. Fields will still get some snaps for weird wildcat packages and shit.

All he realistically needs to play is like 2 more starts to give us that pick, I cant see russ being healthy for 11 weeks.

Anyone who watched that game on Sunday would realize that Justin Fields missed wide-open receivers by a wide margin a number of times.

The flipside, of course, was that his scrambling ability and two rushing touchdowns made a big difference as well.

But to just think that you need to keep a guy for his scrambling ability is short sighted. In the National Football League games are more often won by passing the football.

nope, fields needs 51% of the snaps, to ensure that, he would need to play 9 games start to finish.

Read what I wrote again.

To expect them not to give him any snaps in sub packages is kinda crazy. He's the best runner on that team. They'll prob still use him a decent chunk like the saints use Hill

If you are arguing then that 8 games started instead of 9 will yield 51% of snaps, I am not sure. Let's break down the math.

Fields has started 6 games out of 17 in the schedule. They have ran 376 offensive plays (Fields has ran 375 of them).

He actually doesn't need 51% of snaps. He needs anything over 50% Yeah I know that is nitpicking.

They have averaged 62.67 offensive snaps per game. If you extrapolate that over a 17 game season, that is 1,065.33 offensive snaps for the year.

He would need 533 total offensive snaps.

Since he already has 375, he would need another 158 snaps. And if we assume 2 more offensive games, that is the difference of 158 and 62.67 times 2. That would mean he would need to make up an additional 33 snaps in games that Russell Wilson starts.

Per game that would be 33 divided by 9 starts with Wilson or 3.67 snaps per game that Wilson starts.

Last year, Taysom Hill had 425 offensive snaps in 16 games or 26.56 snaps per game. He was an huge part in both the rushing and passing game. If we JUST look at his rushing attemps as I assume Fields would only be a part of the rushing game, then he had 81 attempts in 16 games or 5.06 attempts per game. If Fields had this volume, it would be enough to put him over the threshold. Taysom Hill is an extreme example though.

MSN To answer your question,I'd say it's his size and athleticism, a good attitude, toughness and durability and the belief a 25yro QB can improve his weaknesses like many other QB's have in their mid-late 20's.

Remember when you jumped from Maye to Williams because you’re terrible at evaluating anything?
Lol now you're making shit up.

Remember when Caleb Williams became inevitable and I embraced that inevitability rather than continuing to be a miserable **** because the Bears decided to move on and not draft the haul and keep Justin.
