Walleye are great eating at about 17 or so inches.

The bigger the fish you should release. Let them pass on their big fish genes. At the aren't good eating.[/quote]

In North Western Ontario the slot size is about 18-21" Can't keep them in that slot size. You can have 1 over and 3 under.

In stupid Northern Alberta on Lesser Slave Lake, your allowed 1 walleye over 17"... thats it... It's pretty ridiculous its nothing to go out and catch 100 or so walleye in an a few hours... but your only allowed one. 2 Minutes down the river your allowed to keep 3, but they have to be over 19"...which is ass backwards in terms of preserving the good reproducing spawners.

Re: Toews Lake - Plan your vacation now

Theres a small fishing camp on Pakwash Lake in Northwestern Ontario. The rates per week are amazing...so cheap that even in Canada I make the trek back that way every summer and have a family reunion or sorts. $220/US per week for the cabin rental... about $500 for the week on a boat rental. If you drag your own boat up you can launch her wherever on Lac Suel, Red Lake..

Amazing prices considering what other lodges charge in the area.

Similar to Musky fishing. The bigger they get, the bigger the fight. Depending on what set up and line strength and it's most definitely a challenge.

Manitoba is barbless hook, and no live minnows. You can use Leaches and Worms if Canadian grown. Although with no barb on your hook good luck keeping them on the hook.

Tim, all three of those fish are beautiful. Would love to learn trout fishing.

While stationed up in Alaska I had the fortune of king salmon fishing from the shore

during spawn for two seasons. That was a blast and would love to do it again in my lifetime!

As far as fishing for big game pike, they are an explosive fish to catch. I do eat northern

but much smaller. When I gaming for big ones it is never to keep, only for the sport. The same applies to my musky fishing.

Holy shit, Chris, 10 minutes apart? You should have played the lottery when you went to the supper club that night. I know guys who have tried their whole lives and never got one like that. What happened to the tail on the first one?

Re: Fishing. Lake Michigan/Canada-Where ever it is you fish

The guys that I musky fish are hard core. We will spend 12 hours on the water fishing with only a break for lunch and when running to another spot. We had spent three and a half days with only one follow for all the hours put in. On Sunday we were supposed to be on the road first thing in the morning but it was gorgeous outside with a mirror lake and as you can see, the mist coming up. We decided to make a quick run to a favorite cove of ours that in years past has produced. The first one nailed a topwater bait on the second pass. Both times she came out of the water for it. Spine tingling.....

The second one was missed by the captain of the boat and I had seen her swirl and miss his bucktail. I threw in a twitch bait and watched her follow it in and hit on the figure 8 on the boat. They were 42.5" and 42". My entire musky fishing life will probably never mirror that moment. The fin on the one was from the net, she was going bonkers when we netted her and both released for another lucky fisherman.
