Oh it is an inexact science for sure. It is entirely possible they have more in them for next year. Just saying they are at that age where they can fall off a cliff quite quickly. It's a reasonable gamble just not my preference at this point.

Yawn, the post of FT's that you thanked and responded to said if they were willing to sign him at 20 million, what is 5 million extra for the franchise tag. We were talking about the franchise tag and you and FT's point was suggesting they would be content having Foles play on the option or franchise tag. It was pointed out to you both that the option and franchise tag would only be offered as a precursor to a trade and not because they intended to actually keep him at that price. Here was the latter half of the exchange.

The above exchange is clearly you suggesting the Eagles will clear cap space as a means to sign Foles. You were clearly making the case they could just carry Foles for a year while Wentz was on his rookie contract. Pretending that it was obvious to you that they would not extend the tag is disingenuous.

Like I said, nice try Rory.

You are so lost on this still. You said the Eagles would need to clear cap space to apply the tag...as was stated numerous times already, that is not the case. NFL teams can apply the tag even if that hypothetically puts them over the cap because, OBVIOUSLY, the offseason doesn't end as soon as the franchise tag is applied to a player. The team can make other moves to clear cap space. You are missing the entire context of the conversation...again.

This reminds me of the White Sox, where several days after losing Machado, they are still keeping it in the news. Why do you insist on being incorrect about this? You've already lost the argument.

As I'm using the words and concept of 'more for sure production', you can't get any better than last year, and a peek at the year before that for the trend. That's the best data, bar none. And that's what I'm going by. It goes without saying things can change. And duly noted his age puts him in likely trend down.

Those 6 sacks were in limited 3rd down snaps; he was actually quite productive per snap (QB hit/Sack per snap 5.3%). He and Suggs are ideal, if the price is $5m/1yr range. Players we should pursue.
Are those pass rush snaps only ?

A Brown is a long way from done, but it would still qualify as the Raiders and Gruden, once again, acquiring a big name on the backside of his career. And even with Al Davis in the ground, big name wide receivers going to Oakland is still a thing.

It's unlikely Suggs leaves, as Ravens are a contending team. Wake is unlikely to leave, but might be chasing a SB ring.

Windy quoted both Suggs and Wake in the $5m/yr range. (Windy, how'd you come to those estimates?) Wake avg $8m last two years, but had 5.5 sacks in about 30 snaps/game last year, I would guess he's trending down in money, and now signing 1 yr at time.

Julius Peppers 5 million [2019]
Elvis Dummervil 4 million [2018]

They may be a touch higher, but that seems to be the going rate for aging productive pass rushers.

Yeah I doubt Suggs leaves. Wake, I am not sure he is even worth the money at this point. I would much rather get someone younger who may have untapped potential.

We have young and untapped in Irving and Fitts.

If you want someone who is going to come in and get you some guaranteed production, then you probably need to look at older guys.

I am also growing less and less convinced that Acho is getting cut and will not be the #3 OLB. They seem to love him, he is a huge locker room guy, and if they were going to release him my guess is they would do it before the market opens and allow him to get a jump on it.

What they do with 0 cap space is pretty impressive to me.

Despite the Bears cap space, I think Pace is going to very aggressive in free agency. He will be creative.

I completely agree. All I’ve read is that they won’t be able to this or that. I believe Pace is looking to not just re-sign Amos and Callahan but actually improve those spots. They are in position to win the Super Bowl now. They should be aggressive. We’ll know soon enough.
If Collins hits the open market, I think Pace goes hard for him. Callahan was great last year but once again he didn’t finish the season.

The thing the Bears have going for them with free agents is that they are a playoff team with good QB play. That can attract potential FAs to take a little less. Not saying it is a rule just that it may help when competing with other teams.

Rory and FT claimed Foles had no leverage,

He didn't. And still doesn't. ONE team wanted him. The Jaguars.

That's not "leverage".

Nice to see remy still being an idiot on this topic.

Foles option, the franchise tag amount, NFL players, and reality all disagreed with you. Sorry you lost again.

Nice to see I'm still occupying your dome rent free though. THAT'S leverage, boy.

I also heard that Foles is refusing to negotiate with the Jags...just another example of Foles' leverage.

If I just start deleting and editing remy's posts as he responds...who has the leverage?

Earl Thomas wants to become the highest-paid safety in the NFL, reportedly offering no "hometown discount" to the Cowboys, so he likely finds more money elsewhere

LOL Earl Thomas isn't from Dallas, he went to school in Austin, he's played his entire career in Seattle.....what the hell are they talking about with "hometown discount"?

He is from just outside of Houston.

I love Florio acting like Texas is the size of Rhode Island.

Florio and PFT is not journalism....it is basically a click-bait site.....

They might as well start each thread with "This happened and the cameraman just kept rolling...." or "She had no idea why the men kept cheering...."
