I'm told WR Darrius Heyward-Bey and the #Steelers have agreed to a multi-year deal. Had multiple suitors but believes Pittsburgh is special.

He's gonna be like 6th on the depth chart there again... what the hell.

He should have tested the waters

I guess he's still got some upside but he's totally inconsistent and a penalty machine. He' barely an upgrade over duccasse and omameh. Shows the desperate nature of free agency and the "grass is always greener" mentality that drives it.

That.... or maybe guys like you and me, who don't do this for a living, don't know what the fuck we're talking about? If 10 teams are interested there is obviously SOMETHING appealing about the guy.

Give me Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan as the 2 "Done' defensive players and Akiem Hicks and one of those other close signings.

I mean, he has upside. No question. And I understand why teams would be intrigued, but the fact that he's a "hot name" is very telling. I mean, every year most of the players who get big deals in free agency end up underperforming. What's appealing is exactly what I pointed out before. It's much easier for everyone-from fans to GMs-to see the upside in players from other organizations then their own. Case in point, Sweezy. 10 penalties for 100 yards at guard? Of course a coach thinks they can fix that. But can they? He's a mediocre player with an overly aggressive nature. Again, something coaches ythink they can fix.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Free agency is fool's gold. You have to be very careful where you invest and very often guys who get big deals or were "hot names" end up being beat out by players already on the roster. It's like going to a bar for girls. You get there, all the pretty ones end up being taken, by the end of the night, you're convincing yourself that this girl isn't so bad, her teeth are only a little crooked, her eyes just a little crossed and her voice is just kind of annoying. But nothing some low lighting and another shot of whiskey won't fix. Then the morning comes.

Just like Trump GatorMike comes in here, says what he wants and doesn't care what you losers think of him.

#MakeChiCitySportsGreatAgain

I haven't' said a bad word about GatorLandMike. I know nothing of his previous predictions and their success or failures. I just find it hard to believe to that two guys both named Mike, both from FL, join the same message board for seemingly the sole purpose of posting their 'sources' information. Who also both have a love affair with Chris Ballard. I just don't know if GLM has that line in his sig to be funny or to be sincere. Thought some of the more frequent posters would know the answer.

I know that CBFM was driven out of here after last year's Pace/Ballard fiasco. Seems interesting.

#Chiefs know they'll have to raise the current offer to CB Sean Smith to retain him. Not sure they will. #Raiders & #49ers will be in play.

#Seahawks LB Bruce Irvin has clear interest from #Jaguars & #Falcons, with many connections. But keep an eye on #AZCardinals. They like him

WTF is up with these numbers?
I think that is each teams cap due to carry over, so cap space would be that number minus salaries and bonuses. No clue if they are accurate numbers.

Translation: No one else was interested in me, so I'm staying in Pittsburgh.

How does "had multiple suitors" translate into "no one else was interested in me"?

Yeah, I'm sure teams were lining up to sign one of the worst receivers in football. Just because his agent said that to some NFL network guy doesn't mean it's true.

Read between the lines. If he had "suitors" he wouldn't be staying in Pit to play 6th string WR

I mean, if he's staying there anyways, why even say that he had multiple suitors if it's not true? That's an unnecessary smokescreen, and I don't appreciate unnecessary smokescreens...

That is what agents do. I'm not saying other teams weren't interested in him-he has special teams value-but clearly he was far from sought after and the Pittsburgh is special" and "multiple suitors" screams agent-speak.

Slow day so far. I thought there would be a few reported signings by now.
