This isnt a depth situation, he's been an average NFL left tackle for 3 years. How many nfl teams have that as "depth"? How many players are going to sit on the bench in a contract year after seeing players worse than them make 20m/yr?

There would be teams wanting to trade for him the moment the bears take a tackle at #10

As I said….

Request a trade and hold out, like every other nfl player that wants a trade?

There are plenty of teams who need a left tackle and he's proven for 3 years he's a solid one.
No one in that situation has ever held out really. It's guys who have proven themselves and on their second contract, guys who don't want to play on the 5th year option, etc.

If Jones held out he'd be taking his career into his hands, not accruing a year of service time. He hasn't made enough and there's not necessarily a demand for him on the other side if he does it.

Not 100% sure, but I think if he holds out the Bears will still have his rights in 2026.

Braxton is also an intelligent and soft spoken guy. Odds of him creating a controversy seem pretty low. He's likely to get a decent contract and chance to start regardless the following year. There's a possibility bears trade him without him creating an issue.

He is. My brother met him and talked to him for awhile. Said he was super impressive.

Bears could trade him, although I'd prefer not.

Ignoring holding out question, if the Bears are considering a LT in the 1st then they should be seeing what Jones can get back in trade and pull the trigger on a trade on Day 2 or Day 3 if they can get back 3rd or higher.

Highest comp pick Jones can get back is a 3rd and that wont be until 2027 draft. If you drafting a LT in the 1st then you better be doing so on the basis they are at least comparable to Jones. Cant talk about building thru draft but then being hesistant to actually give you draft oicks a shot.

Now if you are taking a T 2nd round or later then you saying they may need a year or so to develop so makes more sense to keep Jones.

One caveat to above is if you trade down and draft Simmons then makes sense to keep Jones given Simmons injury concern.

Who's trading for a guy that is coming off a blown ankle and maybe will be ready for training camp?

CCS so delusional.

You are creating a narrative out of thin air. There's nothing here, but carry on.

Is a solid LT the same as a average LT?

There’s an argument to be made that he’s actually above average.

This. He’s very mediocre.

He’s an average to slightly above average LT in the NFL. You move on from him if

A. You are concerned about his ability to stay healthy
B. There is a significant upgrade at 10 and pro bowl caliber LT option

I think “A” is a valid concern, and while I’m all about continuing to build the OL, I don’t think “B” exists in this draft, unfortunately. If there were a Joe alt available, by all means, make that pick…but there isn’t one. It’s a flat out terrible draft for OTs. I think the best OT is a toss up between Banks and Conerly Jr, and their ceiling is probably a slightly better version of Braxton Jones

Long story short, I’m waiting until day 2 to add to the OL. The value just isn’t there at 10.

Draft trex campbell and trade braxton to them for a 2nd round pick now that they are desperate.
Don't think the Fins are that desperate. Perhaps just third 3rd round pick to move up three spots, even if it is only a comp pick.

I don’t think he’s going at 13 but they’re not giving the Bears a 2nd for Jones either as suggested by another poster. They will have options to draft and develop.
Fins still could be a trade partner for the Bears if they wanted to get the best LT they could in this draft.
